another video of me having fun
If I say what I'm using for an intake, no one would likely believe me!
Actually I'm so happy with this setup I'm going to keep it on permanently. The noise factor is far less than the SSR at full throttle, and at part throttle or cruise it's difficult to discern it from the stock intake noise. Sorry Sid. I had another idea to try
And the top end power... weeeeeee! It makes at least 0.04 more hp than before. Check it out, me running out of third gear for the first time in this Honda on this ramp!
Pics later. Sun is down, garage has no lights.
anyways, the goods. Remember this is after a half hour of driving to put heat soak into full effect.

I swore I would never do this on a Honda, but for some reason the Fit really likes it. Must have long enough runners in the manifold. When using a double bend SSR, the resonance point seemed to be around 3000 rpm or so; when switching back to a single bend, it had a good resonance at about 4200. I figured I'd try a way to go even shorter considering the distance between the end of the TB and the actual entrance of the plenum is still a good 6-8" (between cyl 3 and 4) and see how it affected it. Resonance seems to be somewhere between 5000 and 5500 now.
Other reason was trying to get rid of the 90 deg bends. Those really cut into the ambient pressure at the TB. On an old civic where you could get away with 45s it wasn't so much an issue but these super tight 90s are a pain.
Breather is leftover from the SSR, and I haven't come up with a bracket for the IAT yet (will mount behind filter) so for now it's tied to the DBW harness.

Filter has 1/4" clearance to the vacuum line on the back, about 1" to the battery, and about 1/2" to the breather filter.
Was reading around on sixthsphere and on the cheap upgrades page the guy was talking about the debate between the 90s of the CAI and whether it would outperform a WAI for that reason, then they said the ghetto way-- put it on the TB. I thought hey, I don't have a MAF, I can try this.
Why in the world it is so much quieter than the SSR is beyond me.
Engine needs a bath.... sucks being in one of the states with the highest paved-to-gravel reversion rate in the nation.

I drove a friend 20 miles to town yesterday and he didn't know it wasn't stock until we got there and I got on it from a red light. Then he says "A car this small should not sound like this!"
