Taffy got a wash, clay bar, touch up of maybe 5 -6 tiny pin hole chips then wax.

Then we went to Hyundai to test an Elantra GT ES. Sort of like a big brother to a Fit. Seems to have all the extras I put in the Fit. It doesn't ride like a brick either or sound as nice. They want way too much difference to trade.

And the big thing .. It doesn't have that special look or appeal or fun factor whatever. I am keeping the Fit for now.

I am ready for next winter. I had my winter steelies powder coated white. It was a shit job and rust showed through along the seams and around the lugnuts. So I have repainted with Rust-O-Leum in black and made center caps like these. These are real neat way to get center caps. Cheap too.

Here are pics from another thread where I got the idea.

And here is the thread https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/gene...er-caps-3.html

Today a new project. Door handle lights and Honda Logo Puddle lights.

I started on front passenger door.

Here is a pic from someone else's thread how the lights are mounted under the handle. I only put in one strip of 3 LEDs in white that will be connected to dome light. The Puddle lights are on the same circuit.

You run the two wires from the handle BEHIND the window track that runs vertical so not to hang up on the window. They then come out the hole for one of the red panel clips. Don't worry the clip will go in with the wires there as well.

A simple matter of tying to existing harness.

Run them toward the front into door again. Like so -

Then I cheated. I had already pulled wires from winkers through the flex rubber between door and body so no way was I going to manage to pull two more through. So I just pulled the plugs, ran the wires and then re-fitted the plugs. I doubt if there will be any leaks and while the wires go over the metal edge should be OK as far as not shorting. If I do get a power failure I know it could be in this area.

The wires are just hanging inside until I get the rear door ones installed and hook them together before going across to fuse box. I did check then with a 9V battery and they work.

Puddle light was rather easy. They come with a round drill bit to cut hole in the bottom of the inner plastic panel. Here is a pic from the inside.

There is a small what looks like and inline fuse but actually has some electronics inside. I wrapped it back on to the wire so as not to have it rattle. The hard part is trying to solder the two wires into the door ones. You cannot hold the door close and do it unless you have three hands. I placed the door panel on towels along sill and soldered the wires into the two new ones for the door lights about where the puddle light is. Sorry no pic. You do end up with a bit too much wire but it can be tucked up in the panel as you reinstall it. I did add some GOOP around the light to both seal it and to prevent it from turning as I wanted to Logo to be right side up when looking at it.

That is all the old man could do today. I am away now for a few days so it will not get finished for a week or so.

The weak part is going to be the LEDs in the door handles. I can see the wires getting pinched and shorting or just not working.

Now before you ask here is the link to the puddle lights on EBay

and the LEDs I am using

4pcs 3528 Warm White SMD 3LED Strip Light DC 12V CAR IP65 Waterproof NEW | eBay

I will try and get a pic tonight using a 9V.

Yes those are stock. I am looking for other wheels but they are so much more money here in Canada compared to USA. I had a set of Gram Lites on but one of them caused a vibration so I sold them.

And Where can I get a sticker Fitfreak?
I got it from AKSnowman on here. $5 US

Bill

I finished wiring the puddle lights yesterday. I just connected them into the existing footwell wiring.

Still have not decided on the door handle lights. Have one in but I am wondering how they will stand up to Canadian winters. So for time being just the passenger side front is lit.

Puddle lights are neat even shining on my brick drive.

Not too difficult as I have had door panels off before. See the pictures in previous posts.

Taffy had her fist major repair bill.

She tossed a SRS light last week. The right front impact sensor was rusted/corroded. Part was $118, $73 for scan and $95 labour.

That was her first night away from home. She had a big grin when I picked her up. Not sure what she was doing with all those Civics at the dealer overnight.

How many miles on her? I thought SRS safety items had almost a lifetime warranty due to safety concerns.

That is what I thought forgot to check which country you were in. But it's good that you found that in your manual.
