i like the idea especially if you're carring large pets back there.
the only down side in making the grains to go forward/aft is that it will not crumple during a rear-end crash as easily. you probably want the grains going sideways and make break-away slits so that it will crumple and not push the rear passengers into the back of the front seats.
looks like a fun project though.

no offense man, but my biggest pet peeve right now is vw style in a honda. i HATE IT! it angers me. hella flush is not hella cool, rubbin and dubbin is not good for your car and overzealous style is not the way to go. i hate the idea. adding weight. grrrr. but like i said, no offense plz.

Ok so first off - sorry, but no finished pics today. It has been raining today and I just haven't had the chance. I should have some pictures up tomorrow morning.
Second - the question about why didn't I use the OEM spare tire cover as a template is easily answered: The spare tire cover is square and I wanted a form fitting floor.
Third - thanks for all the comments everybody and also thanks for keeping the hating to a minimum.
P.S. Chris, I spent like thirty minutes looking at the gallery with all of your truck pictures in it. Your F150 is something else. Very nice.

Thank you sir.
That is one of my favorite magazine features done thus far.

Ah yes, I easily forget that as I have the OEM Honda Trunk Tray. lol Now if you had THAT it would have made your life 100x easier.

Hmmmmmm. I can't say I'll do this to my Aibo (loose objects slip around my cargo area badly enough as it is), but I have major respect for fellow DIYers with detailed photos and procedures. Kudos and +rep
A quick question: Is your wood flooring permanently bonded/glued to the spare tire cover? Or can you remove it separately?
Mad tight DIY yo!

im liking it. are you going to completely redo the interior? I think it would look great if you lighten it up, and make it look like the interior of a traditional paper japanese house.
