I call dibs on the wheels! LMAO How is it that people can still accomplish this in the year 2009? I must have driven across three million sets of railroad tracks in the eighteen years I've been driving and I have never, ever, come close to getting stuck.

I avoid railroad crossings. I went over one after I lowered my car, at 15mph and I could've sworn my car came unglued. Never again.

I'd be curious to see closer pics... I wonder how much the passenger area was intruded on. Aside from the fire, would it have been survivable? I'm curious what lit, too... Did the tank rupture? Did friction/sparks start debris on the track? Something on the train?

Guess we won't know... really glad no one was hurt.

Digi, who also wonders how she got stuck...

it said she tried to turn around, so maybe the tire got stuck on the side of the track or something... why would someone attempt to turn around on railroad tracks anyway?

Tires probably both were on the rails at the same time in the snow, you just spin and don't move at all. I have had that happen on cable car tracks in SF in the rain, you just gotta row the wheel side to side til you get grip on something. Hella crazy photo. It held up pretty good.
