fit go booooom!!!!!!!!!!!
well the last few days i have a little back fire problem and i figured it was nothing, i was gona change the plugs later today, wel i got on the highway and gave it some in third gear, it started back firing and just let out on last boom and all i saw was smoke oil and more smoke in the cab, it was very scary lol. but im not gona say i couldent see it coming. i have been on boost for 24 thousand miles and non of them were easy miles so i have to give it to the little fit motor, held up prety good. so now there is a hole in the front of the block and half the oil pan is gone. i found the rod cap about 300 feet away from the car in the 1/8 mile long trail of oil and metal parts. i should have a new motor in a little after this weekend.

That looks like a main bearing cap to me my friend, and judging from the way it is bent I'd say the crank tried to walk out of the bearings on you. Will the motor turn at all or is it frozen solid? You probably starved for oil somewhere and it seized right up on ya! More pics and a post-mortem please! Oh, and sorry about your luck! LOL

God bless the engineers at Honda for a damned good product! In looking at the photo again, I was wrong thats a con-rod cap, not a main. I would imagine that when you take the head off, you'll find that piston (burnt silly, if not burned clean through) still lodged in the cylinder. The backfire was detonation, and it was probably pushing the fasteners on that con rod right to the brink every time it happened. That is pretty awesome that the motor will run with that much damage! I'll never call the L15 a weak sister again thats for sure! Now as to why it was only detonating on one cylinder.........

If it aint built for boost then dont boost.... or be prepared to replace engines.... Go N/A or start building... Whos going to make a fully tunable ecm for the fit come on.... I think they would sell a bit of them...
