Cool M-E-T-H-O-D man: Project GE

Greetings fellow Fit enthusiasts! My name is Alex, I'm the proud owner of a new BBP 09 Fit Sport 5AT. We're already off to the rough start, it's like this; trade my DC5 and buy the Fit the third week of Sept. married Oct 4th, on our honeymoon until the 13th. On the 16th, I'm stopped at a red light facing south, a girl on her cell phone heading east doing about 50 brakes hard, front end dives and tries to make a left in front of my car without looking. Guy in a Mercedes heading west at about 60 whacks the crap out of her and she flips once completely and lands on the hood of the Fit almost crushing my wife. Good news is everyone walks away unharmed, bad news; she was so grossly under insured that she may as well have not been insured. In an effort to save money since they have no one to subrogate against, my ins. co fixes my car. So, what I intended to be a DD will now be a guinea pig. Good news for GE8 owners. With my winnings I plan to put a K series in the car and depending on a number of factors, I may make the jump to five lug and FG civic suspension. I'm still doing research and don't know anything about this chasiss or swap, yet. If you know anything for a FACT fell free to contribute. In 04 I did a swap for an ES2 owner who was one of the first private owners to put a A2 into an 01 civic, we got away with using on EP axle and one GS-R axle. Custom mounts from Hasport, figuring out the fuel return system, fabricating a new battery location, it was a learning experience and I love a challenge. I've been building Hondas for over ten years and have a large amount of swaps under my belt. This is going to take months and largely depends on how much I end up winning, if all goes well it can be interesting and will hopefully be a tool for future community numbers. If it all falls apart and I lose to the insurance company than things will suck like they do now but I'll still do some cosmetic mods.
Speaking of which; today I threw on some things I had lying around from past projects. DC5 Honda Access Crystal Ion fogs and a Skunk2 battery tie down I used to have on my DC2 type R.

Thanks, I tried to resize but wow! It didn't work. I'm thinking K24, maybe a TSX motor and K20A head. I want it to be NA with bolt ons and a K-pro tune.

If things work out my way I'll do a MASSIVE DIY. So, Hasport does have the mounts designed in a CAD program, that's good to know. Maybe they'll have a harness for me... At the time when we did the ES swap, there wasn't much in the way of K-swap technology Hasport had to make the mounts one off from a project they did for their shop. I'll call them soon, I found a block on H motors for 850, this is going to be do-able. JDM, I know I'll need your help, I want the base model tails and I'm going to need a MT gauge cluster, clutch slave and master cylinders, hard lines, dash harness, and pedals and probably about 500 other little bits and piece I don't know I need. I'll definitly be in touch with you. Thanks again! Thanks most importantly for the kind words everyone.

Ok, so I just got off the phone with Hasport. They have no plans on attempting anything for the GE8 chasis until atleast halfway through the new year. They guy I spoke with was extremely helpful and gave me some good tips. I'm getting a picture on what I'll need to do. The fabrication isn't my biggest concern, wiring could be tough.

Hasport doesn't make them and won't even start R&D for the next six months. It depends if the mounts are on the frame rails or if there is a mount on the motor. That's what determines what I do. I'm too lazy to go outside in the dark and cold and try to see them all with a flash light. Custom mounts won't be a problem unless I need a urethane insert, that could be tricky, it's the wiring I'm worried about because I'm going auto>manual>DBW>mechanical>L-series>K-series>tuned>immobilizer Luckily one of my better friends is a tech at a huge new Honda dealership so I may have an edge with schematics and a lift and all that good stuff.
