Out with the old, in with the new!

I just traded in my '07 today for an '09, both Sport MT.

I really loved my '07, but it had been hit/repaired to the tune of about $8500, and with all the new features of the '09, I figured it would be a nice deal, plus the trade-in was not going to get any higher...

They gave me $11k on the trade in. Kelly Blue Book showed that one in "Good" condition valued just a bit over that, and taking into account the wreck, I was pretty happy with their offer. I stopped in to Carmax, just to see what they would buy it outright for, and they offered $9500 due to the frame damage it had sustained.

I think the dealer had a bit of an obligation to give me a good price - I bought the '07 there, and they were the ones that rebuilt it after the wreck, so I figure they kinda had to stand by their work.

Did you trade it in "wrecked" or was it repaired by them and then traded in for $11K?

They did the repairs - the wreck happened (oddly enough) exactly 1 year ago today - took about a month to get everything fixed, and I've been driving it again since last December. They did a good job with everything, though the left rear door never had the same 'thunk' to it as the rest of them.

Congrats on your new car! Is it just me or does the GE8 look a lot bigger than the GD3?

by the first pic...the ge8 reminds me of an ep3 mixed with a mazda speed3 :/ Or somethin of that nature I think. but I'll be damned if the ge8's have completely growin on me now. High five on the trade/swap...

Well, I picked up the '09 on Friday, and I've really only put about 50 miles on it (boring weekend, stayed home most of it), so I haven't had much chance to be in the one thinking about the other.

I really liked the '07 quite a bit - I waited for the specific color and trim for almost 3 months before it arrived, and it was my very first brand new car. I think I'm going to like the '09 just as much though, at least as long as it proves to be just as much fun to drive and own as the other one.

And yes, the '09 does look a bit longer than the '07. The first thing I noticed when I sat in the driver's seat was how much further away the windshield seemed and how long the dash is. If any of you remember the Oldsmobile Silhouette/Chevy Lumina minivan, that's kinda the impression I got from the inside.

I'm really happy with the look of the black also - to match, I had the dealer tint the windows as dark as was legal, which in TX is 25% all around, with as dark as you like on the rear - I think they did something like 20% or even 15%, plus I had them do the top of the windshield as well.

Thanks all for the congrats - I kinda feel like I traded in a pet, but with all the new features of the '09 and the small car/Fit trade-in climate right now (compounded by the wrecked status), it was pretty much a no-brainer for me.
