I.M.TURBOED: 175.7Hp/192.5Nm

Hey guys,

After leaving my car in hiatus for months since I got my other ride (a JDM STi), I thought it's time to give it some love. I got a custom turbo kit made for the car using IHI turbo and custom piping+intercooler. I use dual BOV system with Blitz and a bov from a mitsubishi evo III to bleed the boost. The problem with the vtec engine is that it likes to make boost spikes (up to 0.7 bar sometimes! Yikes!) and I need the second evo III bov rerouted to the intake in order to "leak" some of the boost out. On the dyno, I got a nice 0.5 bar tapering down to 0.4 bar all the way to redline. Nice and safe for daily use, especially since I am on CVT. After tuning with a Dastek Unichip, I got a final number of 175.7hp and 192.5Nm torque at the CRANK. So at the engine, you can probably minus that by 25-30%. I don't really care for numbers anyway, because this car will never break any land speed records. I put the turbo on because this jazz is my road warrior and it'd be nice to give it a little oomph. On first impression, the car does feel a little "light" and "spirited". It's nothing like my STi of course (which is a pure track car compared to the jazz) but my butt dyno feels great. Car feels nimbler, accelerates faster and in general feels like an overall bigger hp car.

Here are the pics:

Looks almost stock!

Here's the dual bov system, blitz on top and the evo 3 bov right by the intake

Peekaboo! I had to make a custom bumper grill but I spray painted it black to make it more stealthy....

Pivot boost gauge and apex'i turbo timer in a custom pod

All lighted up....blang blang...

And for you dyno worshippers....Look at how linear the graph is (I hate dynos...)

Waste of money IMO. Honda fit is not a race car or was not built for racing.

Exactly my point. That's why the whole project only cost me around $1500. For a +50hp gain, that's cheap.

Now if I'd be dropping a K20A engine with built internals, TH400 transmission, full turbo and fuel system setup totalling to over $25,000 in investment, then I'd be crazy.

I did. The +10 offset was too much for me, so I went to Advan RGIIs. I am getting old.

LOL did I sense sarcasm? There was 1/2" of dust under the hood from being in the shop for so long. The car badly needs some cleaning up.

That's all I got bro. I wasn't even there during the dyno session. Like I said, I am not a dyno-sheet kinda guy. All I know is the car runs great and it gets me home without blowing up hahaa....

Takes more time to blow a motor then just driving home.
The numbers are nice.

I know....it was a joke.

On a more serious note, Dastek dynos don't provide any other info to their customers other than these 2 sheets. It's something "proprietary", they say.

If they didnt put a wideband in the exhaust before the dyno no AF's were recorded.
Kinda sucks. You dont know if your car is running lean or not.

Buy a wideband.

Judging by the power and torque, Id say youre fine.

turboing your car does not mean that you want it to be a race car.

Honda fit was made for fuel efficiency, an economy car and if you think this car should have been made with more power, then you bought a wrong car. If you go to Eco Fit forum, you will see how owners are trying to get the most gas mileage from their Fits. You will not see a special forum in Mustang, Camaro, even in 7th gen Celica or Civic Si web forum talking about fuel economy or how to save gasoline like fitfrreak.net. Peace!

sigh, another misinformed individual. the eco forum is a joke. if you wanted better gas mileage you should have gotten a hybrid

with the fit, its not about having mass amounts of power, its about having enough power to where the car isnt balls slow. my car is built for taking turns and it does what i want it to well. other cars have alot of horsepower, but only go well in a straight line. i mean, having 98whp as opposed to having 165whp is a HUGE difference esp. in such a small, lightweight car.

please, if you dont have anything constructive to say, dont post.

Eco forum is a joke? Maybe to you. It is very helpful for other owners who want to save money on gas. Yeah I should have gotten a hybrid and pay 8k-10K more. Riiigght!

Ah personal opinion don't count. A lot of cars that has high horsepower can turn well if not better than the Fit.

please, if you dont have anything constructive to say, dont post.
I guess I can the same thing to you.
