its just that everyone want to be different that whats great about car customizing and whats great about this country, you can do what u please. now if you bought a fit to get around town and get great gas mi and you wana through a lil bling on her then rota, drag what ever you please there is no need to spend thousands of dollars on wheels. but on the other end if your showing your car or getting a name out, then duh rota's aren't gona cut it. i mean look at ray (sorry to use ya bro) he has more wheels on his one car then i have had cars lol and most of us have never heard of the shit he rolls on. i mean they are all weird and awesome but the point is they are different then the next guy. the good thing about these knock off companies is that they give the consumer such a big choice to be different IMO

as posted already, balance is key.
everyone OWNED.

i wonder how many guys with expensive wheels here actually track thier car and see real performance benefits from the extra money they spent?

i'm not hating on guys who have or have had expensive wheels, just the ones who feel a need to put down what other people can afford.

granted, i'd be rocking bbs' if i still had my vw, but thats because nothing else fits em as well.

the quality difference between expensive wheels and knockoffs mean nothing to someone who is just dding his car and likes to attack a back road often...granted i know that i could tell the difference in quality, but would it be enough for the justification?

nope.

ha! thanks kyle!

if people would pay attention though, this thread is about ugly wheels, not knockoffs.

and i dunno about you, but most rotas emulate GREAT looking rims.

and there are some jdm wheels that are ugly as hell imo, regardless of how much they cost.

This thread makes me
The jdm bandwagon! come aboard, cuz if you dont rock jdm wheels then you arent representin
Wheels are wheels, and like some people have said, there really is no great gain besides jdm cool points, unless you track your car to get the benefits of a lightweight/sturdy forged wheel.
Wheels are wheels, they are round and another great upgrade to your vehicle. People that hate on what wheels others are rocking seems stupid. Not everyone is a balla! That is one great thing about this scene. It doesnt take much money to upgrade your ride thanks to DIY and cheap aftermarket parts. We are all in it for the fun and joy of upgrading/personalizing our own rides.
At the same time, I see people that rock wheels such as rotas and drag but try to pass them off as the "originals". Thats just stupid. That is probably the big reason why most of the people that have the "real" wheels hate on the rotas, drags, etc...
The reason why I like fitfreak so much over other sites is that there isnt so many haters/biters.
Its just respect, have respect for the game and for the players.
That is all

Hey JDMchris.

I know nothing about wheels. I'm learning, but still not knowledgeable.

Can you/anyone point me to a link that would tell me why rotas are crap?

I see allot of "in jokes" about rotas here, but have no idea what the hell your all laughing at.

Thanks!

im not jdmchris but my name is chris
You can read this
Honda-Tech.com: Honda / Acura: ->Rota Owners Beware! ....
Rotas are cast and a lot of the lightweight jdm tuner wheels are forged. You can read the differences here:
Here's the difference between cast & forged wheels - The 7 Series (E38) Message Board

I understand cast v.s. forged, so that helps.

Off to read the articles.

heh, I'm not JDMchris or kptrulee (duh), but my name really is Chris as well.

I realy dont see what the big deal is with Rotas. From what I have heard there not a bad rim and the price is resonable. Not every one has the money to spend $400+ a rim or $2,000 on that very rare hard to find set of wheels.

well said. i used to have rotas on my other car before, they looked nice and had them for 2 years & no real problems with them. but if you have real rims, people kinda give you more respect for your car. i'm not hating on rotas, but just the way i see things
