The Fit goes under the knief on Monday

Well, my Fit will be turned over to Honda on Monday morning for the removal of the front bumper to sand, repaint and clear coat after the paint started peeling. I got it all washed up last night and detailed so decided to do a brief photo shoot this morning before I hit Wallie World.

Going to be hard being Fitless for two days but glad to have the repairs done under warranty and hope that it doesn't peel again.

They agreed to repaint the front end? You sure they arent just doing a touch-up job?

If they repaint it, make sure they remove the front lip before paint. If not itll be stuck to your front bumper.
If you hit something after the paint will crack.

Thanks for the nice comments! I drove by the body shop this morning and there sat my car without a front bumper! Turned my stomach for a second but they did a complete sanding, repaint and clear coat on the entire bumper and it looks great. They told me if I have any more issues with it peeling to please bring it back in immediately. I am just happy to have it back in my garage and looking forward to driving it to work in the morning.

How much did you pay? I eventually want to get my entire front bumper repainted and then I wanna buy 3M clear tape on the front. I have a couple chips on the front because of rocks and it truly is sad.

Because the paint was peeling from the seam on the bumper - it was covered under warranty although they gave me the bill which totalled $328.40. I had two nice (yikes) rock chips that I picked up from a ride down the interstate so luckily they had to repair those too since they had to repaint the entire bumper. I just got some touch up paint because I am sure it will happen to me again.

I got my car back on Tuesday evening and it looked good at a quick glance then I put it into the garage and drove to work on Wednesday morning. Was running late so did not really look at it and then Wednesday evening some doctor wanted to look at the car and I noticed a milky white area on the front bumper. I was like what? I called Honda on Thursday and arranged to drop it by after work on Friday before they close. Luckily the tech said it was just some overspray and they buffed it out so it was totally gone. It was right below the the right headlight and that area of the bumper.

I washed it yesterday morning and it looks good. I went ahead and waxed the car but did not touch the bumper. I definitely need to do a clay bar job because the paint is not feeling smooth but I wanted to wait until a few days before the Import Show to do that job.

Yes, it is no fun being Fitless even for a few days!
