I was afraid someone from OK was going to catch me haha! Ok, it wasn't all bad, but it was strict dude. Oh yea what's with all those signs for not driving into the smoke? Does Oklahoma periodically spontaneously combust as a state?

What kind of mileage did you end up getting for the trip?

Also, I was just curious how much money you spent on gas making that trip.

Mileage hovered around 27 and 28 mpg the whole trip, due to the fully loaded nature of the car, as well as the extra legal speeds that we (only very rarely and entirely by accident) encountered.

hey Alredcar, can you tell me if you have a MT or an auto? i live in IND as well and was thinkin about buying a fit before i move out to SoCal this summer (plan to take the same route). tell me this, how does the motor sound at around 75-80 MPH? does it get a little "buzzy" at those speeds and if so how annoying did that get for you or did you even notice the sound of the car while driving fast?
also, if you can give me any advice as to getting through Oklahoma without paying too much let me know okay, cause i had already heard that the tolls were a little rough.

how are the roads on the way to Socal, are they very rough.
thanks to all--- good day

Great write up there! I always wanted to take a long journey and document it all with pics and such. Good luck with your internship!

Thank you all for the comments!

As for the noise, I ran the whole way without the muffler (free performance exhaust haha) and it was more than tolerable. I've had the muffler off for months now actually and it doesn't buzz or anything at highway speeds.

However, if I'm driving through the mountains or on the track it gives the Fit a nice bark on the rev-matched downshifts as well as a nice burbly and poppy backfire if I do it just right. However, if you're really worried about noise, keep the factory muffler on and you'll find yourself questioning if the car is on. They did a good job with keeping the typical small engine noises out of the car.
