Middle East Jazz

Just received my UAE-spec 1.5 Jazz. Still not sure how different it is to JDM or US specs, but I'll find out soon enough.

So far, looking good!

Thanks - I'll get you the side shot tomorrow as it's dark now - good to know it's JDM as that'll be useful when I start doing some mods - I kind of work in the industry so I got a really good deal for here and it was exactly USD 12,534 for a 2008 model, but note the specs are very different, I'm sure. I also added USD 1,380 for 60k or 3 years service package including all parts and labour.

Believe it or not this is my first non-4x4 car since 1990, and I'm very very happy with the ride and looks, so I'm now scratching my head whether mods are actually going to be an improvement - and I modify cars, from a 93 Wrangler to an 83 GMC half-tonne to a 82 Patrol MQ - I love old trucks that I can lift, grind and bash around...

And now I own a Jazz!!!! (and love it) - I'm still in shock...

Azki, Bahrain rocks, man! I was there a couple of months ago to drive the Xtreme Gift Packs from the International F1 Circuit - did you know you (and your friends) can take your cars on there for a fee? Awesome stuff!

Good maybe you can ask your dealer why the UAE ones are rated at 125hp not the 110 of JDM ones. What accounts for the difference?

Quite frankly I doubt our dealer knows very much at all. It's not because I'm in the UAE, BTW, it's because I live in the interior of the UAE, on the edge of the desert. In Dubai I'm sure the dealers are as good as anywhere else in the world.

I'll guess - it's either a plain mistake, or a different way of calculating HP, or it's restrictive emissions stuff that are missing.

We normally get topped out on comfort and power options, at the expense of safety and emissions features.

It's a 1.5 VTEC CVT 5-speed, no side airbags, no paddle shift on the steering, no stability control... and I'm not yet sure what else is different. We'll find that out as I spend more time on the forum

Oh, and it runs stock 175/65R14s on alloy rims.

If anyone knows more, the model is quoted online as the Jazz ES 07MY (spelling mistakes courtesy of Honda UAE):

Performance Data

SAE and DIN norms/standards . Jazz catalogue in Dubai says : Maximum horsepower : Net PS (KW) @ rpm : 110 (81) @ 5800
Gross PS (KW) @ rpm : 121 (89) @ 5800

That front bumper is sweet! It looks like smoking is still acceptable in the UAE too

Thanks! It definitely helps to have tinted windows, the car stays much cooler in the sun.

Yeah, problem is I can't get mine tinted dark, so I'll be looking at V-Kool at 0%. People say it's amazing stuff, even though pricey.

Yep I have V-kool on mine and it works great and is a slightly silverish mirror type look but you can still see through it. Good investment.

That's right, no climate control. Not available as optional, either. Mine is the full options one, out of two models offered. Called ES and LS. The lower one has no sports bumpers, sideskirts, alloy rims, and steering-mounted audio controls.

Mine also no stability system nor side-impact bags. No cruise control, either.

You chaps in the UK still going with the 1.4 engine? Are they planning to bring in the 1.5 VTEC any time soon?

Prosett,

i would suggest going for Nanolux instead of V-Kool. Its a sister company and the tints provided are as good, if not better - but also cheaper!

V-Kool is highly overpriced and you will end up spending AED2000+ for the entire car in 0%.
