Honda Red Emblem Mod-DIY

Honda Red Emblem Mod-DIY
I had an idea that I finally implemented a couple of nights ago. I picked up some red reflective tape...carefully cut out pieces that fit into the voids of the "H" on the rear hatch emblem. The result is a pseudo JDM badge. I thought I'd share this project with you.
My original idea was to remove the emblem..lay down the tape...then replace the emblem. However, in talking to a Honda service tech, he cautioned that if I did try to remove one, I would most likely have snapped one or both prongs off, requiring purchase of a new $20+ badge. I decided to do it the harder, cheaper way. After several attempts and failures, I settled for this final result.
Not counting my time spent on this project, I think this roll of 1-1/2" X 30" tape cost me $2.29 plus tax. BTW, one roll of tape should easily do 6 emblems. Get half a dozen of your friends together and split the cost!

I don't recall...but I can check for you...
BTW, if I can find reflective white, I might try doing the front badge as well.

Hello flyellow, I can't remember the brand off hand. It came in a green package. I've seen this tape at Walmart, Orchard Supply Hardware, and I think I saw it at Target. Can't tell you about its fortitude, but it's kind of like the material they use for registration stickers, only thinner.

Red Tape shouldn't be a problem...
Try the automotive section at Walmart. BTW, you might also try checking the auto supply stores like Kragen's, AutoZone, Pep Boys, etc., I am pretty sure that they carry this product as well.

it looks clean as hell...this looks much better than the knock off version of the jdm emblems...the color combo of black and red is sick...i think white borders and blue background for taffeta white fit owners would look nice also imo

I Found the Package...
I found the package of the tape. The one I used for my project happens to be "Duck" brand. You can call the customer service number to ask them about the fortitude: 1-800-321-0253

hey did you cut out pieces of that tape and put them in the openings or did you take off the whole emblem and stuck it on the back? i would think that it would be easier to take the emblem off and just stick it on the back or just take the emblem off and trace it onto the tape instead of trying to fit it in the grooves
