The Official Shift Knob Thread

yeah i thought the nut was for keeping it tight too. I have the Skunk2 knob and i didnt use the nut, it sits lower. stays on tight too

So I took off the knob, then the washernut, screwed the knob on, but the numbers don't face the way they should. They are a little crooked, like 35-45 degrees to the right crooked. Is yours too? I'd assume so since we did the same thing. wtf.

are you guys talking about a nut-ish thing that screws into the knob? if that's the case, it's there for you to adjust how far down the knob screws onto the shifter, so that you can align the words or whatever may be on the knob.

ok I was right. The bottom of the knob rests on the washer end of the nut. With my Mugen shifter I installed today, the boot can kinda cover the nut, which if anything, makes me feel more secure that the knob won't come loose. I'm going to loctite the top of the washer a little bit once I get my t1r shiftboot in. I don't plan on removing the center console at all after that.

Oh yeah, nice Skunk2 knob. I have the same one and I love it. I think it is so heavy it could double as a weapon.

hmm, the indentation actually looks like the boot is being pulled upward. LOL. and yeah the pattern on the knob doesnt align correctly without the nut. but it sits a bit lower and feels a little better.

I've been looking at the Spoon shift knobs lately, not sure if they have the weight I want.
Duracon - 2.3oz or 60 grams
Aluminum - 4oz or 110 grams
Would you guys get the duracon or aluminum one?
Any other recommendations?

That's what I was thinking. Too light. I was also looking at the T1R or something in a ball shape. Too many to choose from!
