DRL is SUCH a pain in the arse.. makes lighting upgrade a headache..

It would be nice to have my turn signals as my DRL...
Fogs to turn on whenever...
The peanut bulbs to turn on when I turn one 'click' on the headlight stalk..
2 clicks for low beams
Flick on high and my fogs STILL stay on...

Yeah its illegal, but cops don't even pay attention to it. I drove right past one tonight after work and he didn't do anything.

Our Canadian Members - Can you advise?

I've added fuses to positions 8 and 18 in the fuse block under the dash working toward getting the DRL's working. Can any of our Canadian members advise us what relay/fuse is missing from this picture?

thats not a good idea. the bulbs that we use for our headlights is an h4, it has dual filament and only one at a time is supposed to light up at a time, otherwise you might overhead the bulb and blow both filaments.

Not sure until I post this picture and compare it to the other posted pic.
Maybe someone can spot the diff.
#8 has a 7.5A and 18 has a 10A.

Thanks for the picture willmax11.

I can't see any difference between the two. It may be that the wiring harnesses are different between the US and Canada, or that there's a relay hidden somewhere.

Here's the under-hood fuse box. Does it have any different components?

It looks the same compared to the owners manual.

I think the best way would be for the 2 or more posters that have bought the full manual to check the schematic for the diff. wiring diagram.

Otherwise it will be hit and miss and we don't want to make a mistake that would cost you.

Alright well I got my DRL's disabled. All I did was remove the fuse labelled "daytime" on the fuse diagram inside the car on the drivers side. Can't remember which position it was in, but it is clearly labelled on the diagram with words. You don't need to touch the fuse box in the engine bay.

Engaging the DRL's will not cause your H4 bulbs to overheat and blow out the filaments. However, they will decrease the life of your bulbs. I'm assuming Honda wouldn't make the effort to make Canadian and American headlight bulbs different, so if you do decide to turn them on, it won't affect your bulbs that much.

Post 8 & 18 appear to be Daytime Running Lights

Took off the inside fuse cover. On the back of the cover it shows 8 and 18 labeled "Day Light"
8 (7.5A)
18 (10A)
The () seem to signify an option/accessory.

I'm guessing we'll also need DRL Module and Relay
See Andrew's S2000 Web Site on this same issue

I just checked my fuse, I removed a 10A fuse, so I am guessing you need to put a 10A fuse in slot 18. Hopefully that works.

I'm not sure why two fuses are labeled/used - guessing regular and fog.
The two fuses where insufficient - and I've updated my posting below (#34)

I still haven't found the relay responsible for the lights. Has anyone received their NA Fit shop manual yet? Can you give us some hints on what piece we are missing to get the daytime running lights working?

bump

-- anyone have access yet to a CDM lighting wiring diagram? I'd still like to get DRLs running on the USDM (even if I had to order a DRL module).

Anyone consider just manually turning on the headlights during the day? Voila, DRL's.

I actually posted a how-to on disabling the DRL in the Canadian forum.

Anyways, I just got the Helms service manual today and took a quick look. According to the manual, the system is above the gas pedal area after you remove the driver's dashboard lower cover. If you can find a loose 14-pin harness in that area on the US spec Fit, there might be hope. You could them possible try to plug in a factory fit DRL module, and add the 7.5A fuse in #8, and 10A fuse in #18.
