Match speakers with radio
I have a FIT Sport M/T. I was considering upgrading the speakers but I have several questions that I would appreciate you CC on.
a. The speakers that I like are a 3 way speaker.- Q I wanted to leave the seperate tweater alone. Will the new 3 way plus the std, tweater now have too much treble?
b. The radio is advertised as having 200W, but I have read somewhere (and I believed them) that it really only has 10 W rms @4 omhs. - Q I don't want to add an amplfier so will the stock Sport radio be able to drive the upgraded speakers?
c. The speakers I'm looking at are:
ECLIPSE SE8365 6-1/2" 6.5" 3-WAY CAR SPEAKERS 120W PAIR

Powering 40W RMS speakers with less than 10W RMS from the head unit. Note: RMS should be measured at a realistic voltage 12.5V (NOT 14.4V which a car doesn't make) at 4OHM and with very low distortion (less than 0.1%).
In order to get anything out of an underpowered amp (headunit) you end up turning up the volume creating distortion and clipping wrecking the speakers in the process.
Underpowered speakers don't sound good.
Either look at less powerful speakers or an amp. Factory speakers have magnets the size of pinheads so they don't need much power to drive them.
