Hatchback's GD3 sound output only subar after upgrade...disappointing
Upgraded my gd3's audio system to the following:
Head unit: Alpine CDA105
Fronts: Rears: 4 Channel amps powering speakers: Alpine MRX-35
Mono amp powering subs: Subs (seriel wired): Custom sealed 2x 10" subs in enclosure
The front door is has dynomat in it and used peel and seal for the whole trunk area including the the spare tire compartment.
While the sound quality is good, it does not compare to a coupe who has an enclosed trunk area. I've compared the sql on a g35 coupe with a lot less money put into it and feel the "chest pump" more, than the install on my car. It seems like the sound does not stay trapped inside the car.
Is dynomatting the whole car the only way to go (and also making the car heavier)?

I see that this is old, but just in case you never solved your problem - I'm not sure what you meant by "seriel wired", but just in case you meant that the subs were wired in series, that's probably not what you want. You didn't say what subs you're running so it's impossible to say for sure, but if you're running two typical 4-ohm subs, you'll want to wire them in parallel, not in series. If you do have two 4 ohm subs wired in series, your amplifier is seeing an 8 ohm load and delivering something like 125 watts total to both speakers. If you rewire them in parallel, the amp will see a 2 ohm load and deliver more like 500 watts to both speakers.
