and this may sound stoopid but:

What are those 'clips' on the sides of both front seats on the upper just below the restraints? Maybe I didn't read that part of the manual?

It's an alternate front seat slider (front/back).

Instead of using the lever at the bottom of the front seats, you can slide them with the clips instead. Useful for putting the seats into cargo mode with the headrests on.

You should just pull the lever with one hand and push the seats with your other hand, one member broke his off I think. Oh, read the manual n00b!
