Alarm for FIT Sport

Fit Sport owners - if you've added an alarm, do you use the remote from the alarm to lock/unlock your car?

I'm curious to know if people are still using their keyless entry transmitter built into the key or if they are carrying another remote on the key ring.

Realistically unless you live somewhere that your car is outside 24/7 and you are scared of smash and grab type break in's there is no reason to go to an aftermarket alarm. If you are concerned about full vehicle theft, then get a Club they work good, and don't cost a lot. Aftermarket alarms and even factory ones these days are viewed more as a nuisance than an alert for someone to take notice about.

Why not get wheel boot instead?

The Club or wheel boot will not prevent thieves from breaking in and stealing your stereo or any valuables you have in the vehicle. They also will not prevent your wheels from getting stolen or your vehicle from getting vandalized. An alarm, or even a blinking LED will deter most would-be thieves. The club does not work. I know an auto thief who cuts through the top of the steering wheel with a mini hand saw and cuts though the wire in the center of the steering wheel in about a minute. Once it's cut, bend the steering wheel where it's cut and remove The Club.

I agree the club is next to worthless. I watched a demonstration on cutting the steering wheel and removing the club in about 45 seconds.

How does your friend plan on removing a wheel boot?

Cut is through the steering wheel, small price to pay for a free car.

Using alarm depends on some situation, or we can say depends on your place.

In my humble opinion, I don't think someone can steal your car by starting the engine and drive away. Since FIT is equiped with Immobilizer System. No one should be able to start engine without a key. However, Immobilizer System cannot prevent tow truck.

Oops! Now I see your point, was slammed with one of those myself. I never realized they came with their own little wheel.
