Fit hatch / tonneau Cover

Just got it.

It's rather large, but I like the retractability of it, works much like a window shade.

If you lower the seats, it will stay in place, but that "bar" will be in the way of taller things you put in the Fit.

Still seems like a rip off for $118 price. Why the hell is it so expensive?

Honda should've included a cheap fabric flocked cardboard hatch cover at least.

I'll post pics later if anyone is interested.

Ha! If you think US$118 is expensive, don't even think about coming to Canada to get one. It retails for over CDN$200!!!!

Where are you buying it from in Thailand?

Just the dealership?

I just installed the carpet floor mats yesterday. Also got the cargo tray too.

Coming from a sedan I was worried about leaving parcels, etc. in the "Trunk" that someone could see.

All I did was take the black felt cover from my 82 Celebrity trunk and draped it across the carrybox and any groceries that are in the back.

With the rear seats up and in broad daylight you can't see a thing inside, even with your face against the hatch window and shading your eyes.
What you can't see................

I also tucked my folding toolkit under the rear seat arms, doesn't move.

College Hills Honda has a quicktime movie with detailed installation and good close ups of the cover in place!

Cheapskate alternative to the cargo cover

I bought two spring-loaded curtain rods at Target, used the pockets where the Honda cover goes to mount them, and draped a blanket over them. Total cost - ~$12 U.S. With the hatch closed the whole setup is invisible.

Please no flames!

anyone have any ideas for a DIY fix?
Illusive and I were pondering creating our own. Just wondering what material we could use to make a cover so it wouldn't be flimsy.

Good thinking! Does this mean there are more of us DIY?
I guess I'm just an oldtimer that only when I can't make it myself do
I buy it. As Red Green would say..................

I like your idea, I would rather save my $$$ for other things than pay $118+ for a cover- do you mind posting picsof the install? Did you put something on the ends of the curtain rods to protect the interior panels? Any noise while driving?

Another cool thing would be the Storage Organizer that College Hills is offering from Australia:

The curtain rods have rubber tips like crutch tips so they don't make any marks. You adjust them so they're a little longer than the opening and then compress them to fit. There's no noise. I'll take some pictures over the weekend and post them.

That tray would be a very bad idea. Depending what you put in it, you can have a potential for a lot of projectiles to hit you in the back of the head if you get in an accident.

^ actually, that tray would work really well in conjunction with the cargo cover, since the cover would keep all the little items in the tray... hopefully
