Modding a larger fan into the HVAC system

I, as I'm sure many of you, are dissatisfied with the Honda HVAC blower in the smaller cars so I had an idea: What if I could mod a larger fan, motor, and enclosure to blow the air faster? Does anyone think this is possible? Basically the mod will include making a custom enclosure as the larger fan will most likely not fit and adding a larger motor to push the bigger fan. Do you think I'll have to upgrade the heater core and associated parts also to accomodate the faster moving air so it's not blowing so fast that the warm air turns cold? Just toying with the idea and would like some inputs...thanks!

I used to work HVAC for homes and in those systems the airflow and coil size is very specific to move enough air while the coil is at the lowest temp without freezing the condensation on the coil. Car systems are most likely the same. You would need to have someone rework the whole system for condenser evaporator, heater core, compressor and just about all of the hoses and valves in the system. The same with the heat. Increasing the heater core size and air flow will end up running the engine cooler and possibly affect performance and mileage.

Sounds like a whole lot more trouble than it is worth.

Yeah, I figured it would be a lot of trouble. But it would be nice to finally have a lil Honda that could blow enough heat or AC. I just looked around, and it looks like they installed ducting to flow air to the rear passenger's feet, so that's where a lot of the pressure is going. So, you agree with what I'm assuming, that without upgrading the core, I'm not going to help much by upgrading the fan alone? Any way to combat the car running cooler with a larger core, because of the already cool ND winters here, or am I just at a loss with such a small engine?

Or just tint your windows like I did. That alone keeps most of the hot outside air out.

Besides tint, a vented seat with fan and extra mesh lumbar support can help move air from the bottom vents across your legs and back.

I find keeping cool enough is more a problem than warm enough in this car, but the above is also cozy on heat + recirc.

After 15 years of the thread starting the warranty is expired anyways. As is with all Fits in North-America.

But what comes to the actual topic. Increased airflow doesn't necessarily increase cooling or heating capacity - it may though - but it certainly improves the ventilation. Which is lousy in all Fits. Huge amount of work needed for that mod anyways.
