looking for DIY to re-wrap door panels and roof liner
#41
ugh, so super77 is crap. I redid mine...didn't put it in, figured I'd let it chill in my room and "cure"/I didn't wanna remove it again and the fabric began coming up on the visor area and the childseat anchor area. debating whether to use gorilla glue and just have a thin coat so it doesn't bleed through or try a "headliner fabric glue" joannes has, cept it's $20, or just use like rubber cement or whatever a person uses with model cars n such. Any ideas? Was also told 3m has a stronger glue(3m 90) but I can't find it in town so yea.

so i tried to get the roof liner off this past weekend, i can't figure out how to pop off the back quarter panels, it feels like i'm going to break it, i see the plastic stretching and so I stopped. Anyone have a diagram on removing all the plastic pieces?
thanks in advance.

did. sprayed both with enough glue. let it sit till it was tacky. laid smoothed all that fun stuff. problem spots were the visors and child seat anchor.maybe i laid it to tight i dunno, all i know is it began to peel up/off so I redid it and plan to use cement glue first in the future. yup.

i mentioned this in an earlier post, super77 is barely strong enough to hold paper to mounting board for an extended period of time. im a graphic designer and i present artwork to clients this way all the time. eventually, corners start to lift up and areas begin to bubble.
super77 might be able to hold cloth to the headliner at first but it may fail after a while. i would definitely recommend a different adhesive if you only plan on doing the headliner once.

michael's, joann's, and any fabric or arts and crafts store should carry 3M fabric adhesive or elmer's fabric adhesive. i used the elmer's adhesive on my ef as a test. it's been 3 weeks and it's still as tight as the day i put it on. we'll see how it holds up to socal's summer heat D:

I just wanted to check back in on this thread and see if anybody has had issues with the 3M Super 77 spray adhesive failing after a while? I am ready to do the panels on my brand new 2010 Fit but want to see if anybody has had problems with the spray adhesive. Some have said it could fail after a few months, others have said it's been good.
Also, the hot glue on the melted plastic rivets? I would think that would easily pop off with a little bit of force. But then again, I haven't used a hot glue gun since early 90's. Maybe it is different now.
