Newbie needs help selecting a car alarm
Long story short:
I bought a 2009 Fit Sport with Navi. 2 days later, front passenger side window got smashed, all four OEM wheels stolen
(see https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/2nd-...tml#post659700 for full details & pics).
I plan to put on an aftermarket car alarm since I plan to keep the car for as long as it runs (my retired Civic was still going strong after 7yrs. before it was totaled last month by getting rear-ended). So any suggestions for a car alarm? I know nothing about them. I'd like to get one that has a silent alarm option (where the alarm notifies me through text or page...if this feature even exists). I'd like one where it senses if someone breaks the window or applies force to move the car (shock sensors).
I did a search on the forums and it seems Viper, Clifford, Python, and Compustar were mentioned. But what should I look for specifically when shopping for car alarms? Which one is the best (most reliable)?

I'm planning on putting the Viper 5701 in my Fit next week. The remote is pretty nice looking, and it is 2 way up to 2000 feet, meaning that it will let you know if your alarm is going off. It also has some nice customizable features. I plan on doing the remote start, installing the power window modules, and I think I can make it turn on my AC. It's a tad expensive, but it's fully loaded.
