I mounted my control unit under the driver seat and the controller next to the handbrake with velcro.
I thought of putting the controller where you put it but would didn't want to move it everytime I have to get access to the fuse box.

I took my SGII apart to see if I could screw it to the dash, before I found BlendMount for it.

It would have been hell trying to screw the back-cover back on, while the back-cover was screwed to the dashboard.

There's just a piece of foam behind it, to keep it stationary for use. I will replace that piece with black foam.

Its raining here so I haven't used it, BUT it works like-a-charm in the garage.

(Edit: I don't really hate Velcro. I hate the sticking it places with the sticky stick stuff. It always comes off in the heat and leaves the sticky behind! Don't ask me how I know ; )

Later,
Hey Craig,
Saying "I hate Velcro" is like saying "I hate shoe laces", or "I hate zippers". Using Velcro to hold your throttle controller in an easy to reach, out of the sun place in your car also makes it easy to hide if you have to leave your car in public for a long time. The Blitz control has no permanent mounting features like screw holes-- it's like they had Velcro in mind when they designed it. What's going to keep your controller from falling out of the "wallet holder" pocket? Velcro would.

Of course you may be right, with my quick turns and high acceleration rate, it might fall out and dangle there.

Wait! We're taking about a Fit.

To each, his own way.

I figured that you had some logical reason why "you hate Velcro", and I agree that with most Velcro in the hardware stores, the adhesive doesn't work too well on the Fit interior plastic. Heat makes that even worse. My suggestion- use denatured alcohol as your surface prep, and use ONLY "Industrial Strength" Velcro- they sell it at Ace Hardware stores and all over the Internet.

Yes, but ONLY if it is "Glen Kella Scotch" the "Manx Spirit" from the Isle of Man. You will easily recognize it because it is water clear (cuz it is double distilled). Unfortunately, you won't find it in the U.S. Glen Kella has no U. S. distributor or importer. It's the only Scotch that won't give you a hangover.

I figured that you would, but your admission comes as a surprise. Imagining your controller constantly falling out onto your legs was kind of entertaining, though.

Let's be real, and honest, with each other.

I imagine one person's triumph or short-cut could save many much frustration!

Besides, without drilling holes, I couldn't get it to mount in the perfect spot that its in without the velcro.
Craig,
Your trade suggests that you have more than the average amount of problem-solving abilities, and that you don't give up easily. I suggested Velcro in several other Blitz T/C discussions simply because it is the cheapest and easiest solution to mounting the control box. It would be nice if Blitz had designed the box with a few flanged screw holes for mounting, but they didn't.

I'm glad that your problem is solved, and if you had found a better way to do it than using Velcro, I would have kept that in mind to try whenever Blitz makes a T/C that works on my '09 Fit. Have a good year!
