Replacing front components

I currently have a JVC KW-XG700 HU in the Fit but still have the stock speakers. I have been thinking about (real) components for the front doors and just running them off the JVC. Is it really possible for the new components to sound good off of the HU's power? The JVC puts out 20W RMS and 50W peak with a preamp voltage of 2.5V.

Thanks!

sure is, if you wanna spend good money. Focal 165V.1's freak people out on the demo board powered off just a head unit. very clear with good defined bass. but not cheap.

For a lowballer solution, Kenwoods entry level compenents. they are very efficient, but nowhere near as good sounding as the Focals

Thanks for the input guys! I need to really decide what I want to do, system wise. I'd love to be able to replace the front components running off the HU and be happy with the sound. From what I've read, using some sound deadening on the doors helps, esp in getting more bass out of the 6.5's. IF, let's say I were to purchase components from Crutchfield, what would you recommend for $250 and under?

Thanks!

Focal 165v.1's I very specifically reccomend this set because of it's excellent sound quality, impressive bass ouput and ability to play very well and loud with just a little power. it's like a mircle speaker. it is the RUDY of speakers.

Thanks Injundon! Jumping off topic for a minute, I still have a gap at the top right corner of my Metra kit and might just tear back into it to get it flush. Now, will i have to disconnect the HVAC controls/cables, etc just to pull the dash panel out enough to get a look at the back?

Just undo the screws at the bottom and pull. no need to disconnect, you have a good 1 1/2 ro 2" of play. plenty of room to slip on the new clips you bought

Are you referring to the 2 screws that are kind of a PITA to get at, haha?

you'll Metra 82-7803 adapters as well, or can make your own 1" adapters out o MDF, but the metra one's perfectly center the speaker into your door.

I picked up 7 new clips today from Honda for the Metra kit. Does anyone know why there are 6 of one clip and 1 of another?

Thanks!

I hear ya there. I'm wondering if its worth ripping the Metra kit back out not knowing if the clips will even fix it, ughhh.
