Based on what some have said here, as well as other reviews, I have ordered a pair of Polk Audio db651s. They should be here next week, and for sure they will be better than the stock speakers. They are designed for the smaller doors spaces in cars like the Fit. However, don't expect good bass without a separate sub.

If money is no object, then why nor get a set of Polk Audio Signature Reference SR5250. <g>

Focal 165V1 components. the require some Metra spacers(or custom made) and slight bending of the sheetmetal in the door panel. But you will ind no fine speaker within $100 of their price.

pioneers ftw!! there was no door panel trimming and i re-used the oem speaker brackets 2 mount it so i didnt have to add any holes 2 my door panel. Check it:

Pioneer TS-A1671R (tsa1671r) 6-1/2" Speakers Car Speakers Car Audio and Video - Sonic Electronix

Great price too, i got all 4 for $130. =]

Just like the previous posts, don't expect any great bass out of any 6.5's cuz they just don't give enough bass. However if u want clear sounding speakers over oem, go for these.

a good set of 6.5's can make your rearview mirror vibrate without pushing the speakers into distorting. Entry level speakers and medium end stuff you find in big box stores will generally not do this.

Buy the Polk db6501 6.5" 2-Way Component System with External Crossover and other Car speakers at circuitcity.com

installed these last week, they sound great along with the pioneer avic D3 headunit but you have to use 1 inch spacers to make them fit...

still cant put the two closest clips to the speakers on the door or the speakers distort from hitting the grille. anyone have a fix for this?

Well, I finally got around to installing my new Polks today. I used the mounting brackets that came with them from Crutchfield, and had to drill three holes for each side, but no other modifications were needed. They also provided a wiring harness that made it easy to connect everything. Nice tight fit and a big improvement over the crappy stock speakers.

Thanks for all of the information on this forum about speaker replacement and removal of the front door panels. It made things a lot easier.

I have the Alpine Type S's installed on my fit. They give good sound wuality, and a decent amount of bass. If you want more bass, you can go with the Type R's. I have 2 12's in the back, so the S's are good enough for me
