Headunit Help...Alpine W505?
I'm new to FitFreak, but have found this forum to be very helpful.
I've tried searching the forums, but haven't been able to find any information on the Alpine W505. Anyone out there have this unit?
If so, how do you like it and what were you comparing it to? Thanks in advance for your suggestions and advice.

the unit has no built in nav if thats what you're looking for in a double din, to get nav u'd need alpine's add on nav, or the blackbird 2. from what i've read on other audio forums and seen in person in other cars, its a nice unit, nice big 7" touch screen, and its exactly what alpine made it for, as centerpiece in any system, with the necessary add ons of course... if you want something with a nav and better processing, try the kenwood or pioneer instead.. this doesnt offer much without add-ons

Thanks for the reply. Based on these forums, I did a little research on the Kenwood DNX8120 and the Pioneer AVIC F-series...but saw many bad comments about the Pioneers (slow load times, bugs,etc.). The Pioneer seems great in terms of looks and features, but all the negative comments still worry me. I guess I'll have to take a closer look at the Kenwood or the Alpine, if I decide to pay for all the add ons.

I'm glad to hear that the F900bt has worked well for you. Is load time something that can be fixed through an update or is this something that you'll always have to live with?
Due to price, I'll probably have to take the Alpine off my list...I guess I'm back to deciding between the Pioneer and Kenwood...or forget about the headunit and just keep my stock radio and invest in some rims instead.
Thanks for the feedback.

IMO Alpine has been digging themselves further into the stupid hole over the last 5 years. They are stripping their head units of features and tunablity and making everything an add-on.
Alpine IMO is no longer a valid car audio department, they a are a marketing firm that sells car audio.
