Hello! First post from a new 2009 Fit owner. I finally found one with a manual transmission and picked it up today. Fantastic car!

I'm loving the car though I'm kind of missing my aftermarket stereo (with Sirius). By looking in this forum it looks like there are ways to install aftermarket stereos in the 2008 and before Fits. Is it just a matter of time before there are dash kits out there for the 2009 Fit? I have a nice stereo, amp, and speakers that I would love to drop in the Fit...

I got the Fit without navigation and in looking at the interior pictures with the navigation it looks like a double DIN chasis would fit into the part that the nav/stereo goes into. Any thoughts? I wonder if there is anyway to get that part from Honda...

I just ordered the center panel assembly for 2009 nav from Honda parts. My aftermarket head unit is single DIN but I also have the slot that can store stuff in underneath it (it was in my double DIN in my 4Runner). The part is not yet in the country but hopefully will be here soon. It cost $57.76 and the part number is: 77251-TF0-G01ZA. I confirmed part number with parts diagram of instrument panel.

Great investigative work. One question I have is can you still utilize the iPod (USB) connection in the glove box with many of today's aftermarket units?

 

many of today's aftermarket headunits (double din and some single din) do have USB ports out back. I know almost all of pioneers have em, same with kenwood. The only thing i would think you'd have to do is run a new USB wire out to the glove box in the same location as the OEM usb port, but that won't be too hard seeing the glove box is right there next 2 the headunit.

 

I'll also be ordering that part for a double din installation. Does anyone know if the cage in the back will fit my future radio? The faceplate we purchase will have the opening but is the cage in the back of my present stereo (non-navi) double din compatible? Do you think theres another part we have to buy?

 

Thanks for the info. One follow-up question. Honda navi comes bundled with VSA and steering wheel mounted audio controls. Assuming that VSA as a stand alone option would be $500 +/- (I've seen it for $600 on, I think, Nissan or Toyota), and steering wheel controls another $100 +/-, that would put navi around $1250 (I'm pulling these numbers out of thin air). So, here's my question. What can $1250 buy me in the aftermarket (I'd also need to buy a new faceplate), and what is the upside to doing so. I'm still not convinced that Honda's navi is worth so much.

 

Did you receive the center panel yet? Any pics of your installation? Im going to my local Honda parts dept. today to order that part.

 

I'm waiting to hear on this as well...going to get a pioneer nav system but I haven't seen any install kits yet.

 

Went to order my panel today and the dealer said that its on backorder with no delivery date. Which means they dont know when its coming in. I ordered it anyway. $45.76 total. Hope I dont have to wait too long.

 

Is there a place online that I may order the center panel from? Also what would be the smartest move; waiting for the dash kit from metra or buying the oem center panel for the navi?

 

buy the oem center panel from honda because ur getting honda fitment with honda quality so you KNOW it will fit like a glove. I bet it isn't that expensive. The only thing u'd probably have a little work to do is how 2 mount the headunit to the console, but i'm sure u'll figure that out quickly once u have the parts in your hand.

did the same for 2006 civics when they came out. Ordered dash panels from the US for civics with Nav as well as a honda pocket with folding door.

 

My local Honda dealer called and said my panel has finally arrived. Going to pick it up on Monday. Now I have to decide which headunit to put in. I was leaning towards the Alpine w505 but now Im thinking of getting the Kenwood 8120. You guys have any thoughts?

 

Kenwood has everything built in... Alpine everything is a pricey add-on.

 

alpine is great.....but so is kenwood.....whatever suites your pocket and needs i guess is better.

 

i think the w505 has way better picture quality.
i believe is was like 1 million pixils. kenwood has alot
less.
anyway i like alpine better anyway.
plus i like the detachable navi option.
i can take it to any car.

 

Sweet! My nav panel will be here on Wednesday. I'm looking very forward to getting my head unit, speakers, and amp into my Fit. I miss my Sirius as well!

Should have know College Hills Honda would have had the answer all along. The instructions for adding the USB adaptor include instructions for removing the console. Enjoy!
