Stock Keyless Entry setting off Alarm

Hello fitphreaks!

So I just got a Clifford 50.5X installed on my Fit Sport. Got it mostly for the 2-way paging. Great system; love it.

Problem is my keyless entry is still active on my stock integrated key/keyfob. So if I accidentally push the unlock button on my stock Honda key with the alarm armed, the doors unlock and it sets off the alarm siren.

Since the keyless entry on my stock keyfob is now rendered useless, could I crack it open and remove the battery to disable the lock/unlock/panic buttons? If I do this, would the car still recognize the chip in the key and let me start the car?

Thanks in advance...

yup.. yank the battery... I do that 112% of the time when installing an aftermarket alarm and the key itself is also a remote.

Perfect, thank you. Seemed a bit obvious but I needed to be sure.

With no battery in the key, there is no way I would be able to set off the stock horn honking panic function correct?

It went off once in my pocket, probably one of my keys smashed into the panic button.

When they installed your alarm did they reuse the stock alarm led on the gauge cluster? Or better yet does the stock led work with the aftermarket alarm?

The itty bitty stock LED is still there and it still flashes.

They also added a big honkin red LED over next to the power mirror buttons like this.

your new alarm system also arms your factory alarm and disarms it as well.

Really? I never had the factory alarm in the first place, only the keyless entry.

you do...

if you open a door when you "lock" your car remotely, it will sound off the Panic/Alarm, that's your alarm.

If you want to test it out, just turn off the car, open and close the door (with you inside) so the car thinks you left. Hit the "lock"
don't move, wait 10 seconds, the red light on your dash will blink.

Open the door, or window, or anything, (without your key) and the alarm will sound.

If your LED has the word Clifford on it as the pic shows, might wanna see about getting that off. Just clues the thieves into what alarm might be in there to try and get around it. I have an LED there, as well as the stock one in the cluster, and these super bright ones up on the a-pillars that you can see a mile away.

Yeah I think Ill hit the letters with a sharpie to black them out, or remove the bezel and grind the logo off with a Dremel. Thanks.

I have the same setup in my wife's Pilot and that thing is 100% stock. Bright LEDs seems to be the norm around here for cars with alarms.

Can I please get a picture of someone's key from a base model without the keyless entry buttons on it?

I was thinking of switching out the key casing or machining a smaller profile delrin case for the key and the RFID chip.
