New Head unit, now poor FM reception?

Anyone notice reduced FM reception when swapping from stock to aftermarket. I am running a Alpine 9884 but the reception sucks compared the the factory piece. I used the Metra adaptor to connect the antenna to the harness, and removed the wire that would go to the power antenna, but other than that I would think it would work better?

The blue wire from the antenna adapter NEEDS to connected to your power antenna source or you will experience poor FM reception...

Thanks that did the trick. That is what I get for listening to my friend who told me I did not need to hook up that wire. Damm those stupid little Antenna adaptors are expensive $20 bucks. Im suprised Crutchfield can offer all that stuff for free.

Ahht eh joy of retail mark up. General mark up on small accessories like that is 300%. Sounds like a ripoff, but it's a necessary part of business since you have to stock MANY MANY parts that you may never use, but need to have "just in case" So it helps absorb the costs of a business "useless" stock.
