Better paddle shift button location??

Here is another poor photo copied from the new Jazz article. You can see the new location of the shift buttons onto the top edge of the steering wheel spokes and radio controls on the wheel.

Anyone guess if this new location for the shift buttons will help with the can't get to them while turning a corner problem??

wish they had the option of Sportshift on the shift lever also like BMWs that have both paddleshift and tiptronic. Makes corner carving much easier than fiddling with buttons on the wheel while turning. Paddleshift=straight line, SS via stick=corners

I'm curious if they're fixed to the wheel or to the steering column. I haven't yet gotten a look at them myself, unfortunately.

They are part of the wheel. When you depress them the buttons sink into the top part of the spokes they are on. But I don't know yet how far you have to press them. I have to go to the dealer tomorrow for some oil change supplies so I will see if they have any on the lot yet so I can try them out.

I dont think so, it roughly looks like where they have them on the current AT Sports. Thats the one thing i cant stand about paddle shifting with the Fit, they are just too small. If they are going to be mounted to the wheel they have to be large, just like the Lexus IS350's, and Infiniti G series.
But what do you expect, its an economy car. Im just greatful we even have paddle shifters.

The picture you posted is an 09, not an 08. That's why I mentioned not knowing whether the paddles are attached to the column or the wheel. I know the 08s are attached to the wheel.
