Looks pretty good. I like how you painted around the deck to match the rest of your interior. Did you rattle can the parts or did you take them to a shop to paint?

Why does the metra kit look mad small in this pic? i'm planning on getting one and installing a single din and 3 gauges, but will they even fit?

I rattle canned it, same way I painted the Zeta clearance sale burlwood trim kit.

When I had the Kenwood installed, I asked them to leave the trim off so I could paint it myself and install it later.

It's just the crappy cell phone pic.

I'll take a better pic today and post it.

Yes they will fit but it depends on how thick the rings are for the gauges. If they are too thick you have to dremel some spots for the rings to sit flush. I have the triple gauge single din adaptor i ordered awhile back but i installed my navi screen instead cause i dont want to cut this one till i get anouther as a backup.

The Scoche kit would work MUCH better for a head unit/guage install. The metra kit with the trim ring takes up alot of space and it has had the HU recessed almost an inch on the bottom and 1/4" at the top so you lose space on the sides big time.

You will have some serious tough issues fitting the guages into it.

Thanks!

The paint I use to match VBP is Krylon "X Metals." It's a two-step process with a silver metalflake basecoat and color topcoat. The blue is about as close to a perfect match as you can get without buying the VBP in a spray can.

I just ordered some eyelids and I'm going to use the same paint to match those. That's really going to show how close they are (or not) .

If it doesn't match well enough, I'm going to have to break down and buy a $25 can of the VBP.
