I think that would depend on the driver.. I know when I had my ep3 and had my Skunk2 shift knob it felt great.. some people preferred the Spoon one where it felt like an egg... it all boils down to personal preference

I got the skunk2 anniversary knob, it is about as heavy as you can get or would want.

But, I thought the stock shifting was a little 'notchy' from 1st to 2nd, and the heavy knob fixed that right up. Now it is real smooth.

I have the GReddy Counter-weight shift knob, which is bored all the way to the top so the threading starts in the center of the knob, this way it lets the knob sit much lower than stock, plus it weights just under a pound. Not as heavy as the skunk2's but it feels great, especially since the arm has been shortened. The throw hasn't been shortened much, but there is a small difference. Shifting feels great.

There's a pic of my set up. Knob shortens the height by about an inch at least. Never measured though.

To really answer your question, I myself prefer a heavy knob, it makes throwing the shifter into gears easier.

How did you shorten the shifter arm? I've got a M10-1.5 die.

How much did you shorten your arm?

Yup, it's all personal preference...I like heavier knobs which is why I went with the Mugen one.

talkin to me? I didn't shorten the arm, I just used a shift knob that sat all the way down, so the shifter arm goes all the way to the top of the knob. It screws all the way up then I put the 5spd sticker that comes with the knob right over it so it's flush with the knob and shifter arm..

I have the Voodoo shift knob and really like it because it also shortens the throw, which makes shifting much more fun for me. The height is about 1.5" shorter than stock.

Weightwise, it is slightly heavier than stock, but not by much, and only about half of the Greddy knob (175g. = ~6.2 oz, Greddy about 13oz). It would be nice if it could be a bit heavier because of the reduced leverage with the shorter throw, but it's not a bit deal to me.

I was thinking about the Greddy knob too, but I preferred the plain brushed look of the Voodoo.

Whatever you get, I'd suggest that you find a countersunk knob that lowers the stock shifter postion. If anyone knows of a round knob similar to the Voodoo but heavier and with some kind of a satiny/brushed finish, I'd love to know about it - maybe I'll retire the Voodoo then.....

Get a heavier knob, it will greatly improve the quality of shifting in the FIT. The stock knob is way too light and sometimes its hard to get into gear due to that and when it did get into gear it felt a bit rough, but a heavier knob cleared that right up and now each shift feels smoother, less force needed, and more enjoyable now.

I like my spoon one because it's small and light and i can shift with 2 fingers. Maybe i'd like heavier but they never let you try them out when you want to buy one.

I drive with a Skunk2 Anniversary knob also and I love the heaviness. As others have described already all the shifts feel smooth and soft, you can practically toss the knob lightly into gear. And the shape of it feels great in the hand!
