I agree on the infinity. Just thought of something efficient. Seeing as i have a very inefficient system in my car. LOL. But like urself i don't have rear speakers, just the components upfront. Still can't settle on a substage tho. And actually at the moment i don't even have a deck in the car. So i'm riding SILENT. startingto get a little aggravating. Trying to decide what i should do for a good double din deck w/navi

I can recommend Kenwood, Panasonic and Pioneer. Consider the options and features carefully. Pricier units are better. For a simple sub solution with great sound, check out the JL CL108LG-W3v3. Power handling is about 150 watts. It's small and ported, detailed and pretty deep sounding.

What are you running for the front speakers. Rear's aren't as critical. I don't even use rear speakers in my Fit. Just fronts and subs.

Spend the money for the Focal's up front. I'm not sure what model is what unless I spend some time looking them up which I don't want to. Keep the rears simple, or no rears. Put some Dynamat on the front doors so you can appreciate the Focal's otherwise your spending a little too much for naught.

I have kicker RS6.5 comps in the front. With dynomated doors. However they are only temprary then i'll get some Focals or Morels, or Zapco's don't really know yet. I had to cut my doors and built a backplate for the RS because of the large magnet. I have a sundown SAX 100.4 for my highs. Was running it active but i'm selling my CDA-9887 so no more active. Trying to pic out a double din. And trying to stay away from kenwood or pioneer. I had a D3 and the only other Pio i'd buy is the Z3. and apparetnly i'm rambling cuz i'm tired. But the NIN concert was good...

I don't know man, the Kenwood's with the Garmin interface looks pretty sexy. If no to Pioneer, then the Panasonic Strada or one of their non-Nav pieces (CQ-VW100U).

The Competition ZAPCO component is totally awesome. Is plays deep and is so smooth overall. They cross their tweeter over at 2500 and it really plays well. The only gripe is the mid is a paper cone and over the years, might not hold up as well due to dampness in the door. Big dollars too. I've had them before and loved them. Also, for good imaging, having that much information (2500 and up in frequency) coming from the top of the door will create you to be side biased-not good. The voice won't be in the middle because of the short path length of the speaker being closest to you. If you are able to locate them into the kick panel firing up toward the rear view mirror, then everything gets better as far as staging and imaging goes.

Don't rule out JL's components. The C5's and ZR's more than five Morel and Focal a run for their money. They have more engineering capabilities than most of these companies put together.

Don't worry about running components active. Back in the day (80's and early 90's) you had to because there weren't any great component combinations other than ADS and somewhat Boston Ac. Nowadays, the components with their crossovers are designed really well and you could do worse in some cases by going active instead of passive.

Holy shit are we off topic of the alternator or what?

i called ohio gen and i need more than 160A for my system. im running 2500 watts rms and for every 1000 watts u need 70 A. i asked them to see what we could do as far as something like a 250A alt. i just ordered a k24 alt to see if it would fit with little modification. the plug looks the same and the mounting looks similar but may have to modify a bit with shims and grinding and tapping new threads. also will have to swap the pulley. ill let u guys know how the progress goes.
