Cheap Carpet Starting to Wear Out

The cheap floor carpet of the Fit has been mentioned before as a matter of concern. Well, my wife's Fit now has a spot on the floor carpet that is starting to wear out after 13,000 miles. It looks like the surface of the floor carpet where her heal touches while driving is being rubbed off, and the white underneath the black surface is starting to show.

What we have done is to buy one of those self-adhesive velcros, and put it over the worn spot. That works pretty well, in fact.

But the cheap floor carpet does remain, and we will have to see whether the rest of it will hold up in a longer run.

Do you have any floor mats that you are using? I am thinking about purchasing the all weather Fit mats but will they cover enough of the cheap carpet to help with that. That is one area that I was really disappointed with the low quality of carpet in the Fit - It would be nice if they gave us a better carpet - that would make it sweet! My Ford Ranger was 11 years old and I could spot clean that carpet and it looked brand new even after 11 years of wear. The Fit carpet reminds me of felt I use to do arts and crafting with- LOL!

Or do the entire floor rubber matting for that matter.....I had a few 1960s cars like this, wonderful and wore like iron, easy to clean, etc.

I never thought I would find a car with WORSE carpet than the Geo Metro/Suzuki Swift.

Yes, we do use floor mats, but not the all-weather kind. We may replace our current ones with all-weather, since this car's carpet definitely can use extra protection.

I'm using the all weather mats. They're great. They cover the entire area up front as well as the rear. The fact they're rubber, makes them easy to clean, and virtually indestructable.

Highly recommended. I haven't had any interior issues with the carpet to date...

I second this opinion. In fact, I took my rubber all-season mats out of my trade-in (Ford Explorer), and placed them in my Fit.

I purchased the $100.00 rubber floor mats from honda. They latch into the flooring. Simple install; easy to pull out and spray off.

I went ahead and purchased the all weather mats and the cargo floor mat plus cargo cover - they all look great and I love the protection they provide. I still don't understand why Honda skipped over quality when it came to the Fit carpet. It is a little thing that would've made a big difference.

I agree, the Fit has the worst carpeting I've ever seen in any car. Very disappointing and certainly not up to Honda standards. I'd rather have textured rubber like the Element.

Even the carpeted floor mats are junk, mine started to show signs of wear at like 7k miles. They are no wjust taking up space in my garage since I got the all weather mats. Thats the best way to go.

I have the all-weather floor mats and i love them, but they havent stopped my carpeting from getting a little missed up. im used to a foot rest peddle from my 00' si, and i still rest my foot in the upper left part where a foot rest should be. needless to say, my carpeting has pulled and strecthed away from the trim. Im hoping honda will warranty that.

Get a dead pedal, it will help in that area. That was the first thing I did when I got my Fit.
