Leg room

I want to raise the driver's seat in my FIT Sport 3 to 4 inches and I'd also like to make it go back about the same amount. Is there any source of info on the mounting design of the seats and or after market modification kits?

Well, I just spent quite a bit of time removing the seat to attempt to raise it so that I wouldn't be sitting on the floor anymore. Here's what I did:
3 of the mounts present not much of a problem as they are nice and flat on the floor. The pesky front driver side which is at a horizontal angle was the real bitch. First I drilled out the rivet which goes through the mount and rail. Then I used a roto-zip to grind off the two welds on either side. Then I had to pound the crap out of the mount because there's also a spot weld holding it on. I guess they really don't want the seat to turn into an airplane in a sudden deceleration event.
I drilled out the rivet hole a bit, then used a bunch of washers as spacers. I was looking for 2 inches, but the longest 10mm bolts that Homey had only got me 1 1/4". So I used a like sized bolt for the front driver mount, grinding the head a bit to get it to slip into the track, it was either a 1/4" or 5/16", don't quite remember, but I used lock washers and torqued it down pretty good. The other 3 are pretty beefy, and I'm no big guy, so it felt pretty solid to me.
I'm not that tall, 5'8", 32 inseam, so the height I achieved with this temporary solution really did the trick. Now I have plenty of thigh support, and the driving position feels so much better. If only I could get the damned steering wheel closer.
I've got a welder friend of mine working on a more permanent solution that'll set back the seat-track 3", in addition to a 2" rise. That should make it more universal, although if I sell it I'd probably go back to OEM to keep the lawyers from hunting me down. I'll post some pics of the brackets if he comes through for me.

I'm interested in raising the seat too. The reason for me is that since my thigh is not supported, I'm continually having to pull my foot off the gas pedal -- I can't just relax. After a little while it becomes really uncomfortable. I love the car other than this problem, so I really want to get this fixed. If bmp956 can post pictures of what he did, it would help me a lot. Also, I've read in another thread here that European Jazzes have adjustable-height seats, but that the adjustment is in the seat, not in the mounting tracks. If so, that would be an expensive fix. Anyone else working on this?

you guys really want to raise the seat? one of my very few gripes about the fit is that the seats dont sit low enough but i guess coming from Civic SiR seats and a S2000 i cant expect to be on the floor like with those.

i gotta agree wit chris even in my clipse' the seats are lowers so when ive driven the fit i feel like im pretty high up

For me it isn't a question of the absolute height of the seat but the relationship of the gas pedal, seat height, etc. In my case I'm pretty sure raising the seat is the best option to get that relationship right.

Have you slid the seat all the way forward? Nobody but a 7 year old with an eating disorder could possibly fit between the seat and wheel. I would have loved to just slide the seat back and go, but even as far back as it goes I still couldn't straighten my legs enough to be comfortable for a long ride. Not to mention that any further rearward would inhibit the rear seat in cargo mode and my arms would be in Daytona 500 position to reach the steering wheel. Not exactly relaxing. And that would have made my JDM armrest console pretty lonely.
So the only option I saw was a more upright position. Hey, works for me. A much taller friend said he could really feel the difference with just the 1.25" elevation. And he used to drive a civic, so he was used to the layed back position and still gave it the thumbs up.
