Acura CL Maplights w/Homelink install
Here are some pics and a quick post of what I did....
First, made a template and cut out the liner..
Then,
I measured up the bracket in order to mount the unit. I used the cut out from the liner as padding in the back and secured it onto the roof with some 3M doubled sided tape.
I recommend using some the 3M tape that is used with securing body kits, it is black with red lining.
Next step is to solder the wires onto the unit if you are not going to use the stock harness from Acura.
Here is a diagram to help out with wiring the power and ground...
Then after soldering the wires I ran the power to the dome light...
Connect the power to the "White" wire and the ground to one of the rear view mirror screws.
Before securing everything make sure all lights work and that the Homelink has power and you are done.
I have to thank b17gsr (Eric) for helping me out and this was all his idea!!
Sorry for the poor pics. I was using my camera phone.
Thanks.

It does not bolt on directly. You'll need to use the Acura CL bracket and secure it the the body. I used the cut out from the liner to act as a "shim" to sandwich it in firmly. I was actually going to use some "JB Weld" to mount the bracket onto the roof of the car. By using the bracket it prevents the unit from moving and falling out.

IIRC, mine was from a 99 CL, and I was too lazy to source the bracket. If you plan on installing the JDM roof console, you need to mount the map lights closer to the rear view mirror.
It's not hard, the first cut is the scariest.
Now that winter is fast approaching, I'm using the map lights a few times per week, and the Homelink even more!

I fabbed a bracket with two of those 8" long brackets used for mounting aftermarket decks. I bent them like an upside down "V", and the tips of the V are against the headliner. I bent the tips a bit to prevent them from ripping through the liner.
As for wiring to the dome light, I used a voltmeter to locate it. I can't recall which of the two wires I tapped into.
