Anyone having this issue? My headlights seem to dim when the defrost/ac kicks on. Is this normal?

 

The alternators are rather weak, and the Fit uses a lot of amps. I am noticed it lately on cold rainy nights when running my new 90/110w H4 bulbs, fogs, wipers, rear defrost, aftermarket head unit, sub/amps, front defrost/fan, turn signals. Even the power steering pump is electric.

You might find the lights brighten up and stay bright if you install a large gauge grounding kit.

Do a search here on FF.net and Google for "Earth grounding systems". You can purchase a pre-made earth grounding kit, or just buy 25-30' of 1/0 or 0 gauge copper wire and some large ring terminals and make a kit for yourself for the cheap. You should be able to buy the large gauge wire at a welding supply store (no doubt one of the lower priced sources of big gauge durable wire), or even a place like Best Buy or a stereo shop.

Yeah your lights will also dim if you try rolling your windows up/down. So that's not uncommon for Fits lights to dim because of turning something on.

 

Yeah mine will dim and even PULSE when I have the A/C or heater on. This gets annoying at night on the highway or when you're in traffic when it becomes obvious by the lights reflecting off the road surface and the tailgates in front of you. I thought it was the alternator going out at first....I may try a grounding kit if it will eliminate the pulsing.
