bump for any possible replies.

I'm curious about this too.

I'd imagine the increased wattage provides greater brightness, but I don't want to believe in a fiction. So, if anyone has some decent facts to back up my assumption I'd appreciate it.

Thanks!!

Its what common sense tells you. Theyre brighter.
More wattage means hotter too. More heat means less life. The place I get my HID's from has 50watt kits now, Ill stick with 35watt kits. Its plenty, and theyll last longer as they dont run as hot.

It's definitely brighter than 35w you will notice the difference but still not as hot as the stock halogen bulb, remember that the stock halogen bulb run on a 55W low and 60W high. If you are to use the 50W HID I would say it would be best to use it in a projector headlight not the reflector ones that we have in our car due to more glare that it produces as compared to the 35W HID bulb I mean a lot more glare....

edit: I did have a 50W hid in my retrofit

Am I one of the only Fits that have almost NO glare? I really think its due to my flat black headlights. The glossy OEM housings cause a reflector all over causing a bunch of glare.

Id still suggest the 35watt kit. Are there any can manufactures using the 50watt kits?
Im sure there isnt.

I don't think there is a car manufacturer the makes the 50W HID even putting it in a projector, the 35W is more than enough to light up the street. It's only the aftermarket manufacturer of HID are making them IMO it's useless having that much of wattage on an HID unless you use it for offroad.

HID kits usually operate at 35W.

i got flatblack housing But yeah I have 35w and shortly after the 55w kits started to show up. To me 35w is good enough. I've seen a 55w 9006 HID in action and its brighter compared to my 35w but I'm a nice guy. I'll let the otherside of the street see where they are driving lmao
