DIY: stain your fogs !!!
So i did this on my 180 a few years ago and im not a huge fan of lamin x so i glass stained my fogs and it was cake ! you can buy it at michaels its krylon glass stain yellow. its about 8 dollars a can one can is moooooore than enough !!!
first to get them out its only one screw located here....................
than you need to un plug the bulb which is kind of a pain in the ass because the wire isnt very long. i found its easier to leave it in and just unclip the harness by squeezing the sides and pulling it down.....
now theres two screws holding the lamp on located here and here
and ,
lastly create some sort of painting booth better than this HAHAHAHAHA !!! clean your lens well use rubbing alch. and than 3 to 5 light and i mean light coats or you will get fish eye and runs ... hold the can 12" away and for those of you who arent aresol wizz's start off the painting surface continue over it and stop after you completley pass the surface... you should end up with this .........................
now i put like seven coats on which ended up not making them any darker and not very smooth but at the fourth or fifth coat they were perfect !!!

the bad thing about your "theroy" is that youre wrong. I've had mine stained for over a year and they have not changed colors, now your guys lamin-x yellow film is the one that fades... check your facts.
nice DIY

hmmmmm burnt lens is not good ! now i know my headlights in my 180 didnt burn with an h4 bulb behind them, but i can see yours did i wonder what the heat coming off those rsz lights was like and if the fit is similiar ???

did this on my hatch and i used dupli color metalcast yellow anodized and worked perfectly no fading or burning, the prob was that after about 6 months the rocks chipped alot of the paint off, so just sanding down and repainted works great!!

so deffensive.. hes right tho i hate to break it to you but in socal there are MORE THAN ENOUGH guys who stained their fogs and will tell you that theirs have faded laminx fades too but who cares it costs 5 bux for more laminx and 200 for new lenses to restain.

To somewhat defend lamin-x, you are suppose to be conditioning it every so often, which i did with klasse sealant. Ive had it on my previous car for ~3yrs and no fading. Plus what i really like about the film is that its like insurance from rocks cracking my fogs
But in the end, its personal preference on what you chose to use, as both pretty much gives u the same results.

Now I could be wrong but I am thinking the longer/more you run with your fogs on the quicker the deterioration of the applied set up. If you hardly use the fogs but like the look of the altered lights when you do use them or like the look even when they are off, I would think they would last a long time, no matter which application you choose to use.
I have to admit though I don't know to what degree regular weather and general UV radiation plays a role. But I am thinking very little when compared to actually using them.
I like the looks of it even if people don't turn them on. So thumbs up for the "stain" method.

I think those look good, I can vouch for the stain glass paint too. Very easy to do, and like what was mentioned before it gets the job done. The good thing about the stain glass paint, is that when it does start to fade after rock chips and daily driving in general; just grab some laquer thinner and rub it on the lens with a cloth. It will come right off. Clean off and spray some more paint on, voila like new! I did my fogs on my civic my friends civic and a fellow fitfreaker. Awesome results. For better results you can spray some clear coat over it for added protection, but the paint alone is fine to me. Nice writeup!

Yellow light bulbs would be the most reliable. I know the 3M foglight film burns as well and can leave some nasty adhesive on the foglight lens. It turns into this rusty orange colour when it burns
