Question License Plate Bulb No Worky

I have replaced the passenger side License Plate Bulb twice already, it keeps malfunctioning or burning out maybe. I have put led replacement bulbs and they shine bright but only last a few weeks. Driver side works fine. Any ideas on why they burn out so fast? Could it be the connection? The last bulb I replaced was loose, but when I pushed it back in the socket it just flickered really fast and stopped working. Only 2 small leds lit up.

hmmm, idunno... sounds like there is for some odd reason too much juice on that particular side.

many times if there is too much voltage and or current in general the LED can give those signs. (They dont last as long, and can flicker and go out really quick) From what you describe it oddly enough does not seem like its the LED problem.

Can you put the stock bulbs back in and see if they are the same illumination? If the problem area is slightly brighter maybe that would be an indicator....
But with out metering it I dont know how you could accurately tell to what degree or difference

good luck and please post your findings

I'll give that a shot, thanks for the info. I wonder if that is the case, how do you decrease the current? I would hate to keep changing out the bulb. Maybe I should just use hyper whites? LEDs are so much nicer though.

A bad socket can chew through bulbs pretty fast.

I guess they were cheap bulbs? the other side went out not too long after the first. I replaced them with oem bulbs and they shine the same. Anyone know where to buy good quality LED bulbs? Autoillumination was were I got the 1st set and those went out also.

this happened to me also, but i can tell it happens with cheap leds. First, i bought PIAA's white blue LEDs for the license plate but they turned out to be way too blue. Then i bought some other brand white/white leds and they lit up great color but thats when they failed and one burn out, it was also the passenger's side. I put back the blue PIAA's meanwhile, and they havent burned or flickered yet. I bought super white PIAAs the other day. I h8 fancy coloring lights as well as stock ones.

so I guess the PIAAs worked out good for you? No problems there? I will look into those. PIAA is a more reputable co. Thanks.
