Put sport Radio into base

Hi guys,

I find it hard to believe nobody has tried this but google has been useless so far.

I have a 08 Fit base, the radio is crippled, no EQ, no aux input, only CD-R NON-mp3 CD's.

I asked the dealer if i could just buy the Sport models aux input and install it, they said the radio probably would not recognize it because it is crippled at the factory. (firmware?)

Has anybody replaced the fit base radio with a sport radio? ( I am near MANY junk yards and ebay has alot too)

I would like to keep the car close to OEM.

Anyone able to shed some light on what I'll have to do here or at least what is possible and what isn;t?

most people would upgrade to an aftermarket radio. that is probably why you don't find anything about it. just get a simple single din and you'll be much happier.
