Hi! from UK Jazz CVT owner

I own a 2007 Jazz (UK name for Fit) CVT Sport. It's now a year old with no faults whatsoever. It's the Sport SE version but quite different from US specifications with an 89bhp engine and the Continuously Variable Transmission. It's outstandingly smooth for a small auto and cruises quite happily (traffic permitting!) at 80 mph on our motorways (your Freeways).
One surprising difference to US specs is that oil changes are required at 12,500 miles and there is no oil monitoring facility. It does about 40 mpg (UK gallons) which is not particularly good by our standards. The new Jazz (in October 2008) may be available with a diesel engine which should improve consumption. With petrol (gas) at nearly $10 a UK gallon most people are getting desperate to cut their fuel costs.

Here's the figures:
Petrol (gas) in the UK is sold in litres.
Average price per litre = £1.05
1 UK gallon = 4.548 litres
Therefore 1 UK gallon costs £4.78. The present £/$ exchange rate is
£1 = $2. So 1 UK gallon costs $9.55.
US gallons are smaller than UK gallons (0.84) so a US gallon at our prices would be $8.02.

Diesel is even more expensive (about £1.10/litre) - you can do the math!

Fuel prices are likely to go up again next month when even more tax will be added by our government. I know you have been hit hard by rising fuel prices but we in the UK and Europe still envy you your relatively cheap fuel.
