hi all from norcal (and by Jan 31st, seattle)

Hi everyone, thought I'd introduce myself. I'm Rich, currently living in Santa Clara, CA. I'm planning on moving up to Seattle on Jan. 31st, 2008.

I'm currently a DSM owner (1992 Plymouth Laser RS AWD) planning on buying a 2009 Fit in the future. So researching it and getting to know the car a wee bit better. Also got a chance to test drive a 2008 Fit. Two thumbs up from me.

I used to autocross on a regular basis with an occasional open track event here and there. But with my Laser on jack stands more than the track, I may have to look into another car to satisfy my need for tackling turns. Thus me saving up for a Fit to possibly race in H-stock.

So nice to meet ya'lls. Hoping to post more in the future on the forums...and hopefully become a Fit owner in a year or so.

Best regards,
Rich

Welcome! I'm also non Fit owner waiting for news on the new Fit so I'm glad I'm not the only one here. Good luck when you move to Seattle!

I plan on getting one the first week they arrive here in California so just in case I can't get one in the color I want (blackberry pearl), either a white, blue, red, or yellow will suffice. Of course that's if we'll see any of those colors here in The States. Saw this video on youtube and I find it pretty soothing YouTube - 2008 2nd Generation Honda Fit Promotional Video

hey rich im poor actually im tony you can call me s0x tho so we are the same animal buddy im a former dsm owner TWICE. i bought my first Ealge talon and loved that car so much. i toasted the engine tho and so i loved my eagle talon sooooo much that i bought a SECOND eagle talon. and i drove it and drove it and drove it. annnnnnnd theeeeeeeeeeeen i toasted the engine. and i loved my dsms so much that i bought a honda hahah which in theory is dsm's arch nemesis. but it seemed to fit my needs . i love it but this is what your gunna notice off the bat. ITS SLOW! haha yes i said it its hella sloooooow but you get used to it. its a different beast. it is however fun "zippy" rollerskatish etc etc. go cart. it feels fast as long as no one else is on the road next to you. the fuel economy with 87 octain will be a nice change for your wallet but get used to filling it up a lot more often. comming from dsms. we had something like 15 gallon tanks the fit has 10 and the gas light loves to come on at about 8 gallons deep. the handling however is really good and the reaction time from the steering is much better than on the dsms. also if your past 5'5 the seating positions will take some getting used to. the seats are much higher up and the distance between the steering wheel. and the your body and your body and the pedals seems to be switched so instead of lounging with your legs stretched out when you drive be prepared to feel a little cramped up (i had cramps in my calfs for the first week but it stoped). but seriously youll love the car it just takes a bit to get used to.
have a good night and if you have any questions im me up dude

Thanks everyone for the welcome.

Snap_Fit: Lol, I wish I was wealthy. But heck, a good, stable job works well enough. Really enjoying the community already with the wealth of info here.

HapaLynai: I'm hoping for Blackberry Pearl as well. If not, black or silver will do. Thx for the vid link. Will check it out. By the sound of your sn, I'm guessing you're half Asian.

s0x: Glad to meet a fellow (former) DSM owner. My timing belt recently snapped so I'm looking into getting my engine rebuilt before my move up to Seattle. Gonna cost me a nice grip of cash.

I had a chance to test drive a Fit. I got lucky as I wanted to try out the 5-speed and the sales person had to bring me to the storage parking lot. There was a huge empty space and I had a chance to put it through the motions, turn-wise. To be honest, I LOVED the fact that it's 700lbs lighter than my Laser and had great pep through the turns (understeers a wee bit too much, but that was expected).

I'm pretty satisfied that it doesn't make a ton of power. With a 2009 model that is suppose to make more mpg, I can live with that. Just give me my handling in turns.
