carbon fiber roof

I was looking and it seems like it could be a separate sheet of metal that is attached to the top of the car. is it possible to make a carbon fiber replacement of the gd3 roof?

spot welded onto the roof. it can be taken off by drilling out the spot welds.

spot welds are easily removed. any other way it is bonded to the roof? you could get a carbon sheet and screw it on where the old roof was as long as there is sufficient bracing.

they're called roof caps. i don't think anyone has made one for the Fit yet, but it could always be custom made ($$$).

or you can try carbon fiber stickers. i wouldn't want to screw anything into my roof unless its a spoiler into the hatch area

there is a company up here in seattle that does custom carbon fiber and fiber glass work. i should hit them up to see what it would cost. wonder how much weight will be reduced. 10lbs?

It would add weight unless you actually replaced the roof. Or unless your talking about replacing only the top sheet metal layer. then it would barely save you any weight.

light weight wheels would be the most beneficial to performance. as far as body panels, maybe the front fenders. they are metal, it would take some of the weight off the front end to make the F/R weight balance a little better.

i think cutting weight off the top will help keep the weight toward the bottom to keep body roll even lower. But i just dont know how much weight will be saved.

Yes it's possible to get a carbon roof cap or a replacement roof, but be prepared to pay mad money.

Cutting the roof off to replace it with a carbon fiber roof that weighs probably 3 pounds less... Really? Just take a crap before you drive.
