What's with the J's Grille?

Why does it have that ugly rectangle piece?

Where can I get the grille that doesn't have that piece? I want this lip/grille combo but not the weird rectangle.

I'm COMPLETELY guessing so feel free to correct me but I'm betting that rectangle goes to the air filter rather than just the engine compartment. I don't mean to hijack this thread but how do you go about buying that grill? Do you have it painted or will "J" provide it in Honda colors? If it came in Blackberry Pearl I'd strongly consider it.

ebay has J's grille/lip combo for $250. Search for Honda Fit or J's Racing fit and you'll find it. Too lazy to search for it right now. Thanks for the answer about the air filter, but wouldn't it be more efficient anyway to not have the rectangle at all? It's just an extra piece of plastic or whatever for no reason!

That piece might be added for aesthetics to make the grill less symmetric. You'll have to ask "J" whoever that is. I checked "j"s and mugens grills on ebay and by the time I had them painted BBP (I want an OEM look) it just wouldn't be worth it to me. The front end of my 08 BBP fit looks pretty nice right now. I had shoulder surgery last Monday so playing around on the PC is about all I can do to entertain myself. It's fun to toy with modding ideas in my mind and look at what others have done. Down the road I might put the ideas into action. Right now I can't even drive my MT Fit since my right arm is MIA.

That's why I'm constantly online researching crap and probably annoying the hell out of other fitfreaks with my pointless ramblings. They gave me oxycodone to kill the pain so I do have some fun but forgive me if I appear not to make sense some of the time. My arm will be in a sling for 5 more weeks.

the part of the grill is for forced induction. feeds the turbo's turbine hope that helps. If u have that grill and no turbo its kinda rice IMO.

I don't think that part of the grill does anything, I think it's more for style. It's just a thin piece of plastic, I doubt it really guides air anywhere, whether for the intake or if you have F/I.

It doesn't do anything other then look tacky. Your not gonna flow enough air or "feed" anything through that little hole, not to mention the stock air box that has a piece that goes straight sideways out to the drivers fender well to get air.

As for it being "rice" to have the grill without having a turbo kit..... LOL

Only a "ricer" would believe that they are getting any sort of ram air power adding effect from that.

I personally like the way the grille looks. I think that part of the grille adds style.
J's is known for having CF intake scoops. I believe the grille is suppose to attach to the scoop.

Thats something a ricer would say.
Not to mention that I believe ALL J's Racing vehicles are all motor.

I prefer the emblem-less grille without the weird rectangle. Know where I can get a good-fitting grille like that?

link!

Thanks for the link but by the time I get it painted it just wouldn't be worth the price to me. I might try some Home Depot Mods 5 years from now after rocks have blasted my front end anyway.
