How to DIY to change out US bumpers to JDM bumpers? parts? etc?

Hey guys,

Went from wanting a Honda Fit 2 years ago. Flirting with a MINI and almost putting a down payment on a smart car until just last week. But last week I had an opportunity to borrow my friends fit for the weekend and that was the best driving weekend I had in a long time.

The one thing that really turned me off originally from the US fit was the bumpers (to meet code) and the extra elongated appearance it produced. This was a deal breaker until my friend just told me that there are JDM kits available.

I'm on board and picking up a Fit this month but...

I've got to get this bumper conversion done ASAP after purchase. Can someone tell me exactly what parts I need to make the full conversion (inside and out)? who are the best distributors I can buy these from?
Do the parts come unpainted?

Please, please excuse my ignorance.
I feel like i'm getting my hot girlfriend back and want to do this right.

Thanks. much love

EK

you will need.
the bumper itself (painted)
rear crash bar (monocoque)

AND THATS IT! (for the rear)

the front is
fenders x2 (unpainted)
headlight x2
hood(??painted??unpainted??)
bumper (painted)
radiator mount
fender liners x2
front rebar

i believe thats it.

I'd recommend A&J Racing for the JDM bumper, headlights, etc.

a&j racing is a good source of jdm stuff but with them being up in canada, and dealing with HUGE boxes for the jdm conversion, expect to pay 300-500 in shipping. but they will get you the right parts without fail.

Don't forget the JDM side mirrors (if you want the "mc" verison) , and LED tails-lights for the the externals.

Internals, you'll need the center armrest console, Honda Hazard switch, and the Roof console.

Hopefully I'm not forgetting anything

internals

Oh by internal I meant anything like structural and frame issues that require welding or liners for wheel wells etc.
and thanks too!

aj racing is the obvious supplier but like he said the shipping will kill you and im under the impression that everything from ajracing is rediculously over priced lol i know a lot of guys on this forrum swear by them but i just cant justify the extra costs. do some shopping around. maybe get into contact with jhp in san gabriel since your in pasadena they might be able to better help you.

It's just money... Woulda spent alot more on a MINI. It'll actually come out a lot cheaper believe or not. I buy honda because I trust the quality and my hondas never ever had problem one. My friends audi had transmission problems in his third month of ownership. Another friends mini just had stupid annoying issues from day one. Getting the honda I want is worth it fo sho.

We need a hook up in Mexico!
Honda of Mexico sells left hand drive Fits with JDM/Euro specs. We in North America are the only suckers with federalized bumpers and dashboards. Yes, down south they have a shelf under the dash and glove box is on the top. Center console too!
