Painted Megan Racing axle-back.

Well I love the look of the dual tips on the Megan Racing exhaust, keeps the profile lower and adds more to the rear end of the car. However the polished oval muffler just stuck out soooooo much I couldn't stand it. So on my day off of work I decided to stop by Autozone.

For now here is a little teaser as it's still drying and I might add a 3rd coat on top of this depending on how it turns out. I'll update this thread when I get it bolted back up later.

At first I liked the look of the Megan muffler. Then A few pics of it made me change my mind. It looks like a regular muffler with polished tips. idk...

Looks way better!

PS, I like the flowers on the ground.

Well my biggest reason for it was that it looked like an oem muffler in that it was at least an oval. The car isn't fast, it can be pretty quick but it's definitely not fast and if I went with some thing with the one large tip, even if it was a real nice quality most people with little knowledge on exhausts would just look at it and think rice.

The dual tips themselves on the Megan Racing are fairly large too, I was surprised when it came in, they're both about 2" across and highly polished chrome so if you really spend the time to check it out you'll notice it's aftermarket, especially with the Megan Racing etched on the outside of both tips. But the chrome on the muffler itself was just too much, mostly because of how big it was, it stuck out like a sore thumb. Painting the muffler black changed the rear end of the car significantly for the better.

lol @ the flowers, my sister and her friend decided to chalk up the driveway after school.

Thanks, taping was pretty easy, the green tape gets you some awesome lines. Hardest part was just picking where I wanted the line to be. As for the pipe I left it untaped. The can I had did pretty even spray so I was able to judge the line well. There might be some slight over spray, but the pipe itself gets beat up pretty easily and there were spots on it after only being on for a week that wouldn't come off with cleaning so I wasn't too concerned.

I also didn't spend too much time on the muffler it's self as you really can't see that part anyways so towards the back I eased off on the spraying. I was mostly concerned with the part in front that faced towards the rear.

Nice paint job on the muffler. Do you have before pics too? How do you like the sound of this Megan?

Here's a few before pics...

This image is borrowed from the user rekcah, as I don't have any pictures unmounted before I painted it.

The sound is nice, I have a thread in the Picture/Video forum that has a link to a video of the exhaust I made. A few revs in the driveway and a couple fly-bys. It's not really all that loud it's a nice mix.

As you probably already found it, yes, it is stainless steel NOT chrome plated.

I wish that the muffler started further back on the car and that the tips were about 3" - 4" shorter. If it did, I would buy one.

I wonder if you can cut the tips off? Are they necessary for anything other than asthetics?

If you did that they wouldnt go far enough out towards the rear of the bumper to look good.

That is true. I personally like this muffler compared to the round ones due to the proportions of it. I like how its wider and shorter than others. I feel like the round ones hang weird from the bottom of the car. They dont look like they fit. I would prefer a muffler that was totally hidden up under the car, or maybe just the tip was visible from the rear. Am I in the minority for liking that?

Nope. I would like a muffler like this:

I also kinda like this, but would want the muffler to be polished and also wish the tips were a little bigger or at least higher up:

Is that the muffler that he got from a Civic Si and had it custom fit to the Fit? I like that too. Maybe someone will make it for the Fit.
