-Noise Level- Removal of Stock Muffler(Axelback only)
Thinking about removing my muffler, and getting a straight pipe welded on. I have a GD3 07 Sport AT, and I'll be taking an extended drive-trip in the next week, so the main thing I'm on the fence about, is the overall noise level of this modification. I don't like the stock sound, but I don't want to sound like a pro-ricer either haha. So one of my main worries with this is the sound at cruising speeds on the highway, (mainly 65-70 where I'm headed haha) how loud will the engine drone be? I'm hoping not to give my passengers a headache, since we'll be in an enclosed space for around 4 hours(they've already brought that up to me haha). Of course I'll be keeping the Resonator and everything else, as I've heard the numerous horror stories of people who take everything off and sound extremely ricer supposedly.

Take the muffler off and test it out around town before your trip. Probably going to want to put it back on for the trip though, lol.
The car doesn't sound bad with the muffler off but I never tried it with a pipe put in its place. I'm not sure how that will change the tone.
Edit: yeah that's right, I didn't pay ANY attention to the original post date.

Mine is not too bad.
I had my straight pipe fabricated with an OEM flange in place. I am therefore able to switch between my 3 axleback set ups:
1) stock
2) Magnaflow
3) straight pipe
Here's a video with my straight pipe mounted:
