Yup, the growl is normal, and something that I enjoy hearing Here are some pics of mine installed:

I rerouted the coolant hose to the TB. It's a pain in the @$$ to do that, but it looks cleaner that way. And the mid range does feel a bit torquier, going uphill seems to take less effort. I'm still waiting to see how this has affected my gas milage, since I drove the Fit very aggressively since installing the intake. But 28mpg was an improvement over 25mpg - that is, when I drive aggressively. I used to get 28mpg on my normal drive to work, so I'm hoping to see maybe 31-32mpg.

Awesome pics!

By the way, was that you I passed on the LIE westbound just before Huntington on one of those rainydays this week? I was flying by in my VBP Sport AT in the HOV lane!

How much is this stuff?

What's the maintenance needed?

My Honda SA told me that aftermarket products may void the warranty of the unit because some products don't have filtration of dirt. It may cause damage in the future. Is this true?

The filter is reusable so there's bascially not much maintenance has to be done.

I didn't have any warantee issues, I have brought my car to Honda for service and they didn't say anything about it.

I have to say aside from the awesome performance gains with this intake i was pretty pissed off that it did not come with all necessary hardware. It only come with 1 clamp for the filter. I had to buy 2 aditional clamps from autozone. 1 to clamp the blue rubber connector to the intake and another to go to the TB. The stock clamp is does not tighten enough and the intake was very loose. I think to spend that kind of dough you should damn well get ALL necessary hardware for installation! Plus i had to clean the hell out of the inside because it was not finished and there were pieces of fiberglass that were sticking out. Once again for that kind of dough i EXPECT a better quality product.

Very happy with the performance gains but VERY disappointed with the skimping out on hardware and production!

EDIT: I would never reuse the filter. After a while the fibers get too clogged IMO and cleaning it as opposed to getting a new one makes all the difference.

The filter diameter is 4.5 inches. You can get them from Ben or K&N has replacements. Also saw this one which i like better because the end cap is open as well.

if anything id see if you can get one of the older weapon r filters to fit on the intake, those are really good filters from my personal experience.

FYI, an open end cap doesn't increase flow, it disrupts flow and greates turbulance.

while that may be true i am planning on doing a ram air with pvc pipe. the end of the pipe would fit nicely in the center cap thus forcing more air in from outside. Then their would be more flow.

how's that work ... open end caps have greater surface area for the filter and should theoretically have less resistance, it's not like the air streams are going to be in opposition to each other or anything

Ben, you are using the T1R carbon intake with that cold-air tube right? Where did you position the tube, just below the filter? Or did you use an enclosed heatshield to isolate the intake to just the cold air tube? I'm really curious about what you did, and if it helped, since the other examples I've seen on the forum are using the stock airbox
